Transfer Rumours

Exactly, and likely is also speculative and quite different from named sources.

This "report" could be nothing more than someone blowing a momentary expression of home sickness completely out of proportion to drive click throughs.

Rumors draw eyeballs to websites.

It is a fact that Jannah is considering this. It may be a rumor here, but it is happening. She just hasn't decided yet, which is why I didn't want to name her in case she didn't leave. I can completely understand her reasoning, especially after what she's been through. No matter what, she will always be a Lady Vol!

I really hate to hear this. Jannah was well on her way to becoming a phenomenal basketball player before her unfortunate circumstances. The girl could score the ball with such ease. As someone mentioned Jannah could have made a case for the #1 player before she got hurt her junior year, much like Morgan Tuck the year before. She would have been a huge factor IMO if she was healthy. Major upgrade at the 2spot as far as offensively, although she was no slouch on defense as well. I feel like this may go the way of Lauren Avant even though we had the pleasure to actually see the potential of Ms. Avant on the court. Either way I wish Jannah the best and hopefully her knees can get better to show us her potential if she decides to stay.

Orangemaniac,

Well, I am not suggesting that such speculation is going to push a given player to transfer. I said it makes the board look bad to engage in all kinds of random speculation about players' and their relation to the program (and which are generally going to be very, very wrong and often lead to negative crystal ball gazing--such as, Player X is won't get playing time, so she might as well transfer, etc.)

I can guarantee you that parents of players and RECRUITS do to varying degrees, check out what fans are saying about the team. I would anticipate the Recruits sometimes might also check in as well.

You liken this thread to a freedom of speech issue. Actually, message boards (which set rules on what can and can't be said and where moderators have the right to remove and edit posts) are not classic free speech zones. Mods make decisions about whether a given post is appropriate, responsible, inflammatory, derogatory and so on. My view is that unsubstantiated speculation about transfers is not very responsible (more akin to shouting fire in a crowded theater). The mods apparently disagree and that is the way it goes.

I didn't want random speculation on every player on the team. I heard it was happening and was just curious as to who it was. I don't consider it anything like yelling fire in a theater because that's a prank based on nothing. This rumor of someone transferring wasn't a prank based on nothing. It was just some "rumors" I heard from more than one source. If Tucker does decide to go, I wish her the very best but I fear she may fall back into the mess she was involved in the first time. I think Holly should be commended for what she has done with Tucker. I feel there are not many teams out there that would have stood by her as we have. I just hope Tucker makes the right choice for her.

Thanks, gule. What's a gravity strike pitch? And did you remove a post? I swear I saw one on my screen and it disappeared when I "reopened" or whatever you call it when the darn iPad goes to sleep. I don't know if something weird happened or what. Now I keep expecting stuff to disappear:eek:

Tucker was Holly's first recruit. She got the ball rolling when people were worrying what our recruiting would be like without Pat in charge. She will always have a special place in the hearts of a lot of fans because of that and because of what she went through to get here.

I was really looking forward to seeing her play as a Lady Vol and I hope we still get the chance. No fan base would cheer for her harder or be happier to see her succeed.

BTW, does anyone know how she looks in practice? Does it look like she will make a full recovery from her injuries?

I'm very much looking forward to her playing as well. I will be sad if she does decide to transfer because for the past two years I've been eagerly waiting to watch her play, but I've had the nagging uneasiness that something like a transfer could happen because of the ups and downs of her recruitment. I guess all we can do is wait and watch what happens. I'm a lady vol basketball junkie, November can't come soon enough

That sucks, but her situation is understandable I'm sure the girls are begging her to stay right now even if she is unable to continue playing they all seem like sisters and I can't see any of them not being hurt by a transfer. It hurts me just to think about all that she has been through and to not see her succeed on the court sucks but I know in life she will be a huge success and one of my favorite Lady Vols ever no matter what she chooses.

Also, people are hard on KD I remember watching Harrison as a freshman and thinking 'seriously what is this girl doing here' the player/person I think Dunbar is will not allow herself to fail and she will be better than Spencer. I can see her playing the stretch 4. She knows her weaknesses and I am sure she is addressing thenough and will come ready to play next season. Playing consistently against Graves/Deshields/Nared/Jones/Russell should have her well prepared to do what this team needs Her to do.

I do not think Jannah Tucker would have been listed on Inside TN if it was not a done deal. And I remember how she decommitted soon after committing. Devastating to Holly. And I remember she was supposed to show up for first summer term, then didn't. Then she was supposed to show up for second summer term, but didn't. Then she sent a message to Holly, not even a phone call, that she wasn't coming. Holly's first recruit, not showing up and not even bothering to call. Holly has been beyond Christian in her responses to this person.

Well, there were many extenuating circumstances as to why she didn't come when supposed to. She always wanted to be here, but I guess being chain whipped and beaten by your boyfriend changes priorities.

Can spot up and shoot rainbows. She never lost her shooting touch. Lateral movement on the court, however, is almost non-existent.

I edited one of my earlier posts after thinking better of it but the subject of it had already commented on it with a snarkey comment and I guess the mods decided to burn the whole thing..

me and ole Butchna jus can't get along.... lol

it's just in fun but some people are too thin skinned these days...

Gretchen threw a pitch that looked to be inside and coming in about head high to the batter that just lost all momentum as it got to the plate and the catcher caught it as it fell off to the outside of the plate. Strike 3, she's OUT! was just beautiful to see and sorely needed at the time. got em out of the inning.

Jannah was the first player to verbal to Tennessee after the Pat Summit era. I remember she started crying during a summer basketball camp at Tennessee because she said that she knew this was the school for her and she gave Holly a verbal face to face. This young lady has went through hell at a very young age because of a jealous and controlling boyfriend. And even though this has passed, you don't know how deeply this affected her emotionally and psychologically. She was held against her will and beating with a dog chain. I'm sure that had a lot to do with her decomitting and not coming that semester. That is a lot to got through as a teenager. She was going to a major university to play a game she loved on the biggest stage and the boyfriend was jealous and his mother knew about it but said I told you not to love my son! What kind of mess is that! Then when you know that you were a highly sought after player coming out of high school, but injuries have derailed your playing career and there's a possibility that you will never be the player you once was. That is a lot to swallow at such a young age. I will root for this young lady no matter what. Some people may have just given up on life after enduring tragic situations as these. Keep fighting Jannah Tucker and you will always be a Lady Vol rather you stay or go.

Wow! That must have been some post...I've been reading some other threads and thought they were pretty brutal with one another.

Some can dish it out but can't take it very well. Got to admit though, I never thought butchna fell into that classification. Maybe you just hit a real sore spot.

Thanks for the explanation. I pull for the team to win, but know nothing about softball...just that the one who scores the most wins:), and sometimes I get confused as to when the game even ends:unsure:.

I told him I didn't think he was being truthful about something and he took it bad, said that he wished that I would die soon... lol

made me feel bad, not!

That is really a shame. She was a great talent.

It's a damn crying shame, but can't the lateral movement be rehabbed eventually or is it just something that will never be 100 percent. I'm guessing it's on a case by case basis.

Could ya just imagine the offensive juggernaut we would be with a lineup of cooper, tucker, deshields, graves and Russell on the floor at the same time...

I hope you stay jannah, I've been wanting to watch you play for three years now lol, but if you don't, I wish you and your family the best!!

people do tend to forget that all freshmen aren't ready to play at the collegiate level,I personally don't expect a whole lot out of a freshmen in any sport

if they do produce early,of course that is a bonus for them and the team

but it is hard to expect them to come in and be great, right off the bat,I'm sure KD will improve greatly from this season till this fall

Any news on Jannahs decision? Sure hope she stays.

I think she will not be going on the summer trip to Italy and it's more than likely that she will transfer. Don't know what school yet or if she will give basketball a try. I think she wants to be closer to her family. Nothing is official yet, she could possibly change her mind all together. But as of now it seems as if she is leaning towards leaving. No bad blood at all though, just wants to be closer to her family. That is very understandable after all she's been through. Its sad that a young talent like her had to go through so much. The quick release and rainbow 3s would of did wonders for Tennessee's offense. A 6'0 guard with a scoring mentality, who could get to the rim because she was so strong, could shoot over smaller defenders, that had a consistent stroke that would make you pay if you left her open. If she was 100% healthy she would of been a starter. Why! Why! Why! Wishing you the best Ms. Tucker.

The thing with Jannah though is she got her surgery in high school and because of her personal issues you don't know if she got the proper rehab. That is so important.

I'm thinking we need to move Jones and Nared to the four and Graves will be the backup five when she is not in the game with Mercedes. I know we have Moore but she needs to really up her intensity and put on a little weight to be a factor against the better teams.
Even with these moves the perimeter is still really jammed up with Reynolds, Cooper, Middleton, Deshields, Carter, Jackson, Dunbar, and Tucker. Dunbar may be another option at the four unless she improves her mobility.
There is playing time for Tucker if she can get well and also get with the academic program. She had some problems getting to class on time and that want be tolerated even by Holly. I don't know if that is part of the reason she wants to leave or not. These players have to go through a lot to be Lady Vols you really have to be dedicated in every way. Some players can't handle this and think it will be easier elsewhere. A lot of talk about wanting to be close to her family but after two years here hard to understand why that suddenly is a problem. Whatever she decides best of luck to her.
