That's really unfortunate, because I don't believe Gruden is coming here. Hiring Gruden shouldn't even be an expectation, but that's what any non-Gruden hire is going to be compared to.

Those bolded names would either never leave their current positions or you're nuts for wanting them. Bob Stoops is going to leave Oklahoma? Really? I thought this was a serious conversation. How many programs does Petrino have to implode to dissuade people from wanting him as a head coach? C'mon

Then take out the bolded names, except Petrino, he wins and we can definetly hire him. Dooley didn't get fired for bieng a scumbag, he got fired for losing games. If Petrino came and won here we would be singing his praises. Nice guys finish last, the fans want victories. At least this fan does.

Teddy Bridgewater. The fact that he's gone 7-6, 7-6, 9-1 in three seasons and they went 6-6, 5-7, 4-8 in the three seasons before he was hired.

I imagine he did a little recruiting at Florida as well. You guys think Florida not promoting him to HC after Zook's dismissal is a knock against him; well, he was also retained by Meyer after he joined the Gators.

Petrino built the Ville, Kraigthorpe was awful and Strong righted their ship. If we want the guy who made them relevant we should hire BP. how much did UF recruiting drop when Strong left? How many kids with UF offers signed with Louisville? I tend to think that a corpse can recruit to UF. I think Strong better than some candidates but I don't think he's our guy.

I think I'm the only one that got who you were talking about. I'm pretty sure the like you got was from an anti Strong guy. Lol

I love the possibility of Strong because 1. This defensive class would close well with Bell, Ramsey, Levenberry, Hatcher, etc... 2. AJ, Maggitt, Randolph, McNeil, Sentimore, Couch, and Williams would be monsters in his scheme.

I've been talking up Strong for a while. I live in Louisville, so I've seen firsthand what he has done.

He repeatedly mentioned that Hart wants a coach with SEC experience. How did you get that Gruden is the top choice exactly?

Maybe this had something to do with it?

I was really disappointed in listening to Haney at the half. Really down played Gruden, maybe that was a corporate decision, but agree with several here that Strong was discussed at length. I'm not sure how credible Haney is with our program, but his report seemed way off to me. ** Side note, seems like some of the insiders are now crawfishin' a little about Gruden. It's not fair if someone other than Gruden gets the job as alot people here at VN will make him look like 2nd hand hire. Not good for recruiting. I can support Gruden, Strong, Mullen, Mora Jr, Patterson, a few others.

Who has he beat that's worth anything this year? Their biggest home game in years was vs. UT, that should tell you something. And look at his past classes. And scout football recruiting rankings? Come on.

Rivals has them 28th, not 60th. Where is that number coming from? Miss State is not a traditional power in a conference with several of them, so those numbers actually sound pretty good to me.

Yahoo Sports: Rivals.com 2013 Team Recruiting Rankings

Mullen's job was to get Mississippi State competitive. In the three years before his arrival, they went 3-9, 8-5, 4-8. Since they've gone 5-7, 9-4, 7-6, 8-3. Hence my comment he had "completed" the project.

I would hope he would hire a more traditional OC, but I think he would in the SEC.

I agree and his recruiting would be more than solid. He recruits pretty good. now considering it's UofL in the Big East. With our resources and being in the SEC it would only go up.

Who has he beat? He has feasted off the bottom of the SEC and OOC opponents. His recruiting at MSU has been awful, and he has ruined relationships at many of the prominent MS high schools because he's an arrogant prick.
