Trouble in Kentucky?

Cal called UK a “basketball” school. Duh. Said they need new BB facilities.
Stoops got mad….

We know how this is gonna end.
Trouble? Nah. Just a pissing contest that Cal will win. UK doesn't give 2 squirts about football. It's nothing but a distraction until basketball starts.

Hopefully Stoops has to apologize for Cal insulting him and the football program. 🤣

As much as I agree, don’t give these idiots a common enemy. Let them tear each other apart. 😂

On Stoops, he’s a good coach that’s probably as good as Kentucky will ever get. I think he really needs to get a bigger job while he can. His recruiting is eroding and they look a lot worse on the trail this year. A school like them cannot afford to have a bad recruiting year.
Why? He's the 15th highest paid coach in the country, making $6.25m this year, at a school that doesn't demand anything close to top 15 results. As long as he wins 6+ games there he's fine.

There are a lot of different ways to define "best head coaching job in college football," but if you define it to mean "financial reward relative to expectations/stress level," there might not be a better job in the country than UK.

The only difference in stoops and other UK coaches is he has beaten Louisville and Miss St more often than not and has had some lucky bounces vs Mizzou. They don’t play anyone tough OOC and they don’t play Bama
Kentucky has always played sh*tty non-conference schedules, yet he’s vastly outperforming every coach that has been there since Bear Bryant.

As someone who has been kicked off of multiple Kentucky message boards I can attest that a loss following a kentucky basketball game has about 10x the number of people signed on compared to a loss following a football game. It definately is a basketball school.
Also anytime your basketball arena is named after a national championship winning coach while your football stadium is named after a grocery chain you probably are a basketball school

Calipari just doesn’t know when to keep his mouth shut.

Why anyone would have respect for him beats me.

I was born and raised in Kentucky. There's only a handful of people who care more about football. Their passion has always been, and always will be basketball. That's what makes it sweet that Barnes has gotten the better of Cal 🤣

There are a bunch of people on here who wouldn't be impressed by a coach if he took Montana A&M into SEC and went 6-6 every year.

They think college sports is like professional sports where everybody is on a level playing field, and consider going 29-45 at UK to be like going 29-45 at Alabama.

Oh it's definitely a basketball school, I don't think anything is actually disputing that. But it's still a d-bag thing for Cal to just bring up like that. Most coaches respect other coaches at their school not to publicly dunk on them like that. Cal should have made his point without throwing shade at other sports.

Barnhart trying to blame the media for creating this is pathetic; your bball coach opened his big mouth, nobody forced him to say anything.
Barnhart is just trying to misdirect. If he can get the media to focus the attention to him instead of his 2 bickering coaches then he’s doing his job. I don’t think it’s going to work though. Ironically, this coming season has the opportunity for both sports to have bigger years than they have in a long time . I hate to say it, but UK basketball is going to be ready to go this season.

He’s accomplished mediocrity against an easy schedule. He’s done well “for Kentucky” but much like the other “great coaches” some here have preached only to see them struggle at real programs, He really hasn’t done anything except beat SC more than most UK coaches

I haven't said, or seen anybody else say, that he'd be awesome at a "real program."

As others have pointed out, UK has never had a particularly difficult schedule and he's better than most (all?) of the coaches that have preceded him except for Bear Bryant. Since 2016, Stoops is 47-29 (25-25) at Kentucky, and has won 3 NYD bowl games. That is not easy to do. They are a .500 program all-time. Sure, that would get you run of town on a rail at Alabama, but it is foolish to compare those two programs.
