True difference makers on the team currently...

Then why are you watching?
If you want to rub it in at least wait until March. Read my posts and you’ll see that’s my biggest gripe with CRB. He’s never accomplished anything come tournament time. He has the guards this year to ( hopefully) make some noise in the NCAAT

So we get to listen to you squawk about CRB’s salary for the next 4 months?

Im as excited and happy as anybody the Vols won today. Great job by CRB for allowing Ziegler to play as many minutes as he did. Hopefully he will see that he has a great combination with him and Chandler on the court together and get the rotation figured out. Let’s do something in March this year! Go Vols!
Somehow, I find that hard to believe. It gives you a lot less ammunition in your personal crusade.

Didn’t have to wait very long. Made N C look like a middle of the pack team today.

Yeah. Barnes schooled a guy coaching his 4th game? Vols looked great.

I doubt there was much scouting & floor prep for either team today. This was pretty close to “free range” basketball. Barnes did a great job using the 2 freshman PGs.

Despite being the quicker team, Tennessee was outshot 22-5 from the FT line. Amazing. Carolina might not be what they were but the refs don’t know that.

That is part of the amazing game today. N C had a good team and the refs on their side today and we still blew them away.

He got to a final four once, 2 EE's, and four addtional SS's. so in 25 appearances, he has advanced at least to the SS 7 times, and has a FF.

As to your posts, you never have anything positive to say about him. It is all negative. Not just this gripe, but every post. I don't mind constructive criticism except when it comes from an irrational bias.

On a day where we shot 33% from the field and 17% from 3 we only lost to Villanova by 18 after being down 20 at the half. We did it through defense and leaning on the zone in the 2nd half.

He hasn't always been a top-5 paid coach, though, yet you've always had the same complaints, exhibited in your earlier stated (and overly-played) retirement comment. So, that tells me that the salary is really a non-issue for you, and more of a convenient, if not irrelevant, excuse that helps to compound the real issue. Thus, in fact, it has everything to do with you "liking or not liking him", which you clearly do not. Just don't be disingenuous about it and own it.

I noticed there wasn't a response to this post or some others of yours. That's how he rolls- just ignore the posts that are true.

I actually like CRB as a person and think he is a good coach, probably the 3rd best coach in the history of UT M. BB. However, I Think it’s ok for me to point out his lack of success at our school in March and that he is he 5 th highest paid coach there is. To this point he has been our Jim Harbaugh. Maybe ( hopefully) this is the year he gets the monkey off his back and he and his team doesn’t tighten up in the NCAAT an gets beyond the second weekend

Another post that is completely off-base. If my boss comes to me and provides constructive criticism about my performance and also reminds me I need to earn my salary, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t like me. As stated in other posts, I actually like RickBarnes the person, I just think he is overpaid for the results he has achieved as the UT BB coach. I am as hopeful as everyone that he changes his perception this year. He has the guards and talent to do it, now let’s see if he can put all the pieces together and not get beat the first we end of the NCAAT

I’m waiting on Rick Barnes to out coach somebody

Well we are even, I am waiting on your rational post percentage to get above 10%. It is becoming a health issue due to the number of reflexive eyerolls I have been having with several posters on this site. I think this can be validated by the responses you have received in this thread you elected to start.

Why does the fact that my expectations for a coach that is the 5 th highest paid coach in the country in his profession to excel When it matters most ( NCAAT) make me “ irrational “? I’m a HUGE fan of UT basketball and am still Waiting on us to become relevant on a regular basis when the season matters ( in March). My expectations are much higher than they were previously after our Administration finally showed They were serious about making UT basketball relevant by paying the big$ for a coach when we have always “ settled” for up and coming coaches. Whether Rick Barnes makes us relevant or another coach, we really have not accomplished this yet when it really matters.

Prior to him being paid Top 5 money were you on this board claiming he was underpaid? Saying that he was over coaching expectations set by his salary? If not, then using the salary now is pretty weak.

Barnes has not had postseason success equal to what he has accomplished during the regular season over his career. hard to argue that. Most of us can still enjoy a successful regular season and appreciate that Barnes has taken UT basketball to a higher level then where we have historically been. If all you care about is the post season I suggest ignoring what happens until March. I will enjoy our regular season schedule and successes and hope we get over the hump in March. To consistently harp on Barnes post season record this early in the season makes it seem like you are just hateful and can't sit back and enjoy good basketball when you see it. Go Vols.
