Looks good. Has possibilities. Hope they get it right.

Great producers and actors. Jeff Bridges may pull of a better Rooster Cogburn than John Wayne! Not to mention the rest of the cast potentially doing the same respectively.

Any western fans in the nation?
Anyone going to check this movie out?
Comments?

Gonna be hard to fill the Duke's shoes. Remakes lately have been sub-par at best. We'll see. It'll get the John Wayne fans out though, if for nothing else, title alone.

the trailer is pretty strong though. Looking like we might finally have a western worth a damn to go see. Hadnt had one in a while now.

This was ironically a topic of conversation me and the neighbors were having. I may have even posted as much not too long ago.

There just is not anyone now-a-days to fill the shoes of the John Waynes, Clint Eastwoods, ect ect....

Jeff Bridges > John Wayne
Josh Brolin > Dennis Hopper
Matt Damon > Robert Duvall

The Coen Brothers > Whoever directed the first one

Better cast than the original and better directors. I can't wait to see it. Opening on Christmas means it will be up for all the big Oscars too.

i much rather watch a John Wayne movie rather than a Jeff Bridges movie. Don't get me wrong, I like Jeff Bridges, but he is no John Wayne

I can see the argument either way. I just see the differences as generational. I think Wayne is a true international superstar because of his era. I think bridges is far in a way the better actor, because of his skill set. Dennis hoppers claim to fame in my opinion stems from his appearances in some iconic films not necessarily because he is a great actor. Josh Brolin is a solid enough actor who fits this bad guy part. Duvall is the bettor actor but Brolin has a solid shot at being as good when he gets duvall's age.

I'll always remember Hopper as the nut job in Blue Velvet and Apocalypse Now.

Hopper was in Giant a good bit. Of course it is a 4 hour movie. When I think of Hopper I think of Easy Rider, Hoosiers (for which he was nominated for an Oscar in each) and his speech he gives Christopher Walken in True Romance.

Coen Bro.s and Jeff Bridges do True Grit?

"I'm about to embark on a great adventure to avenge my father and find out who peed on his effin' rug. It really tied the room together"

Love the original. Classic western.

Seeing the Coen take on it should be interesting.
