Trump Promises Big Action (on School Prayer)

This is also true and it was politically dumb. The evangelical community is solidly behind Trump. It's the moderates he should be focused on.
Perhaps internal polling is showing something different. Despite what is often claimed on here, Trump is not a political dumbo. He knows what levers to pull. Don’t get me wrong, I hate this idea, but part of why Trump wins is because he is constantly underestimated by his opponents.

That is exactly what I was about to post... and I had to do a double take when I saw who had posted it.

Hello ... I’m the one that said they are all lying , pandering politicians . I don’t trust any of them , I also don’t trust our upper IC management, I’ll call them all out for being pandering hypocrites. I have no problems doing that . I am however one that will root for the underdog and I’ll swim against the stream in a minute , thus the name lilreb. I also lean to the right so there’s that . 🤷‍♂️

Edit : just to be fair , all politicians pander to someone , it’s what they do . So it’s kind of low hanging fruit .

I don't mind school led prayer. If the district is majority Muslim, or Jewish, or whatever, that district can agree to prayer in school which in line with the faith of the majority of enrollment. If, as a christian, I don't like it, i can move to a district of like-minded folks.
Nope. Government shouldnt play favorites. If it's a public school it needs to be set up for the general public. Not favoring anyone over anyone. I can see elective classes being allowed based on religion. But it should never be mandatory in a public school.

Heck I didnt like that it was mandated in my private Catholic high school as a Catholic.

In his hundreds of hours of TV time, has there been a single instance of Trump leading a public prayer in the last five years?

Clearly prayer is very important to him.
A president, or one running for it, shouldnt.

As a private citizen sure, if it's the right situation. Cant imagine it fitting it with WWE Raw or his "reality tv" show about the office.

He is the most non-spiritual person to ever hold the office. (excluding self-worship)
Hard to say what they really believe, but most presidents that come to mind at least did a so-so job of pretending to acknowledge a higher power.

Christians are told over and over that prayer is a reverent and private act. I’m not sure how public prayer ever became a thing because there is no biblical justification for it.
I don't necessarily disagree, but off the top of my head I only think of one text that says this.

And then there is the whole actions speak louder than words thing.
Trump's actions alone (personal and public policy) make him the least spiritual in my view.

All of them since the 50s have attended the prayer breakfast. Brings to my mind the Family Netflix miniseries I watched recently.

The government is the people. The local population should be empowered to make the decision. Their taxes fund the school. Their kids attend the school. If they want their school to emphasize math and science, it should. If arts are their thing, so be it. If they want prayer, same.

.gov wouldn't be involved. the people of that district are involved and in control. how would a school sanctioned prayer "force" prayer on anyone? I've bowed my head and been silent during Jewish prayers. Their faith wasn't forced on me and being respectful didn't make me Jewish.

Or like at the UT football games.... my favorite one was the prayer to the spiders and bugs. LOL

Majority rule and religion don't typically mix well.

Which is why I am fine with electives. If they want those extra classes, offer them. Dont require them. Another thing allowing specialization will do is segregate the populations. If the minority religions only go to certain schools there will never being any type of integration of cultures and the government shouldnt be fostering the differences in people.

I have always felt racism stems from fear, and fear comes from ignorance. It's only by knowing people that we actually learn how to interact with them. How we can learn what is appropriate instead of just being PC'd to death. Once we get to know people it allows us to see they arent that different than us. But of we keep them separate those differences get magnified through the optics of ignorance.

If nothing else, he knows how to manipulate the ignorant and gullible.
How's that different from what the left candidates are doing? You think people are for Bernie because he's a good guy? Or Warren? They're saying crap, mostly "free", and the ignorant are gleaming over it.

I think the best case scenario is when the ignorantly gullible vote is split 50/50. I think that historically it has stayed pretty close to that.
That ratio becoming grossly imbalanced is part of what explains the 2016 anomaly.

I think the left picking, even willing to cheat to do so, Hillary is what explains 2016. If they pick pretty much anybody else, I'd say they win.

My comeback to that will always be............
He beat 16 other repubs in the primaries, that is the kicker. That's the most bizarre and inexplicable part of the whole thing.

I will agree. Save this, cause we don't agree much!🤣

... And if Hillary didn’t get out worked on the trail , he wouldn’t have beat number 17 . That’s pretty impressive to beat out 17 people with one being the heir apparent to the thrown .
