Trump to sign national security funding bill, then declare State of Emergency

RE the funds:

1. Border Patrol and DHS have said more barriers are essential to help solve the problem. They are the experts (or at least more expert than Congress).
2. Dems have in the recent pass supported much more spending on barriers. As you suggest if the "wall" is a campaign issue then Dems are willfully ignoring experts and what they supported recently to prevent Trump from getting some political benefits.

Congress is acting poorly and if Trump does the Emergency thing then he is acting poorly. Neither are being responsible and there's no justification for the actions of either.

Unless I'm getting you wrong, you're saying Congress should just go with whatever DHS requests. I would agree with you if Trump wasn't putting his thumb on the scale of DHS and Border Control to exaggerate the extent that additional security barriers are needed.

You know, the latest Bill didn't just pull a number out of thin air, as to the amount that Congress felt immediately warranted. They've given more that the previous Congress, no?

That's why they have oversight if I'm not mistaken.

Duh, heโ€™s got enough funding to keep the wall going until they get a decision from the Supreme Court which Iโ€™m sure will go his way. # Winning!
With as many legal challenges as this will face, outside even the initial emergency challenge, he will have to win re-election to have it built. I am not saying he wonโ€™t win.

I'm not saying they should go with whatever DHS says - however they are in a much better position to say what would be effective and where the need lies no?

If you are suggesting that the Dems position is based on what is really needed rather than some political pissing match then I don't know what to tell you.

When Schumer keeps blathering that it's for "fencing" not a "wall" that tells you exactly what the Dem objection is - Trump promised a wall and they want to stop him from fulfilling a promise. When Dems say walls aren't effective but then support "fences" it defies logic.

Heโ€™s got enough funding to continue construction until the Supreme Court rules in his favor, this in addition to a favorable economy and an abundance of weak socialist opponents will guarantee a win .

Maybe Pelosi's attempt to scare people about gun control legislation would have more weight if even one of the Democratic candidates wasn't a complete @$$clown. Gotta win in 2020 first there dentures. Good luck with this current group of rejects.

Spending Bill Allows Mexican Cartel-Connected Texas Counties to Stop Border Wall

A key provision in the spending bill being presented to President Trump for signing stipulates that the federal government give specific Texas border counties the opportunity to derail any efforts to build barriers, fencing, or walls by simply opposing the construction of the border security measuresโ€“but many of the specified counties have a long and recent history of top officials taking bribes from the Mexican Gulf Cartel. Ultimately, the bill allows county offices with historic ties to the Gulf Cartel to stop U.S. border barriers from being constructed in the region.

This bill is horseship. This bill should NOT be signed whether an emergency is declared or not. Signing this is a mistake.

Experts: GOP/Dem Deal to Spark โ€˜Largest Surgeโ€™ of Young Border Crossers โ€˜Country Has Ever Seenโ€™

A Republican-Democrat spending bill being offered to President Trump will spark the โ€œlargest surgeโ€ of young border crossers that โ€œthe country has ever seen,โ€ immigration experts warn.

Pro-American immigration reformers and experts across the board are denouncing the spending package as a scheme to increase the illegal alien population, to provide a de facto amnesty to illegal aliens already living in the United States, and to expand the Catch and Release of border crossers.

Federation for American Immigration Reform President Dan Stein specifically called out the de facto AMNESTY included in the spending deal that would provide all illegal aliens with close relations to newly resettled UACs be shielded from deportation.

โ€œIn simple English, every new unaccompanied minor who arrives at our border will trigger an amnesty for multiple adult illegal aliens who are already in the country,โ€ Stein said of the provision. โ€œThe illegal aliens who will be eligible for protection from removal include not just actual sponsors, but those who might be potential sponsors and every member of their households.โ€

President Trump should NOT sign this horrendous bill.
