Trump says he'd beat DeSantis like he beats everyone and the only reason DeSantis has any clout is because of him. Trump says he ought to drop out.

Who you got?

And for how long are GOPers obligated to blindly vote for Trump?

If I vote in the GOP primaries, it will be for anyone but Trump. If Trump ends up the nominee, I’ll vote 3rd party for the 4th straight presidential election.
What are you looking for in a candidate that you didn’t find in Trump, Romney, or Obama?

Pretty much everything?

I can't vote in a primary in FL but already know I'll vote 3rd party. Both sides are too far gone at this point and their followers too firmly entrenched to affect any change

Neither one can win the general election so it doesn’t matter.

I'd love to vote third party if someone came along who wasn't either single issue (i.e. Ross Perot) or a bit more coo-coo than usual (i.e. Ross Perot).

Honesty. Integrity. An understanding of economic principles, individual liberty, and limited government.
Ah, I read your post to mean that you were potentially open to major party candidates. I see now that was my mistake. 😂

I appreciate the response. I can’t recall ever having reason to regret my vote for Romney based on any of those. The reasons I’ve heard for people not liking him always seem to dovetail with reasons people liked Trump or Obama.

I may be the most pessimistic on the forum regarding politics and politicians. True to my nature, what difference does it really make if it is DeSantis or Trump? We go after each other based on crumbs falling off the table all while the big picture feast goes on without interruption. What really changed under Trump? What really changed under Obama?

Look at the long-term view of our country and you will see we slowly move towards a social democratic type of government. No president will ever have the clout, political capital, or be allowed to fundamentally shift things back towards a representative republic.

Convention of States
Nothing over the top but term limits, balanced budgets, campaign finance and lobbying
Could stop this in its tracks

Other than elections being rigged why wouldn't DeSantis win? Got to imagine there's a lot of people angry about the mandates and all the crazy crap coming from the pandemic. Why not the guy who opened his state so everybody could take a vacation, and told the Feds to F off.

It's fantasy. It's not going to happen.

And many of the states are guilty of the same drift to Social Democratic governance. All spending (Federal, state, local) is about on pace to be 9-10 Trillion dollars this year.

I liked Romney, but he’s always seemed soft. He reminds me of Bill Frist, who let Harry Reid walk all over him.

Do you see this or hear about it from any state leadership? I don't. I hear people like you and me discuss it. We don't have any sway.

I admit it is the lone sliver of hope in play. I will believe it when i see it.
We gotta pull a Dobbnail Boot
Actually DC will run out of money at some point and will self destruct leaving America as a wasteland in its wake
Dang this is depressing

The establishment will never allow another unapproved (meaning a person that will promote the status quo) candidate be elected to high office again.
