Trump Will Destroy Children's Lives Just For a Political Jab

Idk why that’s so hard for you to follow. You’re claiming kids would starve without these services, are you not?

Yet these services aren’t available in all areas.

No, I didn't claim they'd starve - you did. I stated that many kids only meal comes from school.

Then, you doubled down and pointed at the summer months as evidence that kids aren't dying from 'starvation.' When shown there were programs to supplement that period, you suggested that there weren't enough, claiming 30 - when in fact there are hundreds. At what point do you stop chasing the rabbit and accept your attempt at discrediting the issue with an obtuse attempt at gotcha was ill conceived?

1. In this country, there is no such thing as being incapable of feeding your children.

2. Yes, child neglect is and should be a crime.
Hey big guy, give an answer. What should happen to the parents and children? Jail, fines for the criminal parents, and DHS for the neglected children? I know you haven't though anything through, but you hate the idea of school lunches.

These kids whose only meal a day is from school, you must believe they either all starve to death over the summer for two months or that they simply all live near these meal centers. Granted there are more meal centers than I first thought.

Which is it?

I’m open to all the things you just mentioned. Do you not consider neglect to be a crime?

Fair enough. The 30 sites provide meals for multiple locations. I can admit I should’ve looked at that more closely. Surely though you have to accept the parents who aren’t feeding their kids are also unlikely to take them to these locations?

Child starvation in America isn’t a problem of finances it’s one of neglect

I don't recall making commentary on why kids weren't being fed - only that they weren't. You asked me what i believed those monitoring reports proved, I believe they prove that the program is being utilized. Are there terrible parents who don't care enough to feed their kids, absolutely. Are there parents out there who have to choose between rent or food or medicine who love their kids, sure. I disagree that childhood hunger is a result of the former.

No one is this country is choosing between rent and feeding their kids. We pay both of those for them. They’re picking between the needle and feeding their kids

No, if the school and summer programs weren't available they'd likely lean on other resources to find sustenance. I didn't create a dichotomy of school program foods or starving to death, that was you.

Here’s my real issue. I’m not opposed to these programs replacing food stamps. But as long as we have food stamps, parents have 0 excuse and these programs are simply wasted funding.

It's a crime of society if you don't feed the kids, be it bad parent, poor parent, or disabled parent.

That’s why you take the kids. In a land full of food stamps, child hunger is inexcusable.

It'd be nice to do know the data on before/after free school lunch programs and hunger. I'm sure the program is far less successful than proponents let on, but that's not to say the program doesn't make a significant difference.

How's the view from your ivory tower? Apparently you can't see the homeless and hungry from up there, must be nice. I always viewed you as more pragmatic than this, is everyone a drug addict mooch?

I’m not convinced government can accurately quantify hunger

I took pb& j and a banana or sliced apple to school almost every day of my life. Maybe some chips and Sometimes Turkey sammich. It’s STILL not expensive. This isn’t hard.

Well, if you want to be honest; yes. The homeless are drug addict mooches.
No decent person in America is incapable of feeding their kids. How much do you get for 1 kid? 300 a month tax free?
