You can get plenty of protein cheaply without meat (pb sandwich being one of the simplest). I do eat meat but would need to see the menu before judgingThis was why I posted the no meat Monday link in NY for peacecorps in our conversation and government control . I think Monday is ( or could be) the worst possible day to do that because some kids may have gone the whole weekend without meat or protein . I have it in my mind that it would make more sense to load up on meat / protein on Monday’s to cover that for those kids .
Pretty sure that's what they've been doing over the past fifty plus years, now there's an epidemic of obesity and diabetes - driving up healthcare costs and clogging up the system. All the more reason for them to load up on calories at school. Pizza, cheeseburgers, fries, cokes, and ice cream.
From the looks of kids today around here, I don't see many who look that undernourished. When I was in school, there were probably less than 10 fatties in the whole school of 750 students. We ate properly and played outside every day, rain or shine.Pretty sure that's what they've been doing over the past fifty plus years, now there's an epidemic of obesity and diabetes - driving up healthcare costs and clogging up the system.
You're paying for it one way or the other.
There are many kids, probably some in your neck of the woods - where a school lunch will be the only meal they eat in a day. It's hard to wrap my head around that, but hunger isn't relegated to the corners of Africa.

yes, because all of society should turn on it's head for .00001% of the populationIt's simply an example. But I have no issue with helping keep other kids in my child's school from dying. Completely worth it
When were peanut allergies first discovered? I don't remember ever hearing about them when I was younger. You would think that would have been discovered a long time ago.

It doesn't "keep them from dying", it's called helicopter parents mixed with schools afraid of lawsuits preventing normal people from living their lives.
Do you believe that those kids parents receive welfare and SNAP? Because almost all of them do, wonder why they dont feed the kids? hmmmm
I spend my time worrying about the health and well being of the child than playing gotcha with their parents. If more did it I'm convinced this world would changeDo you believe that those kids parents receive welfare and SNAP? Because almost all of them do, wonder why they dont feed the kids? hmmmm

I hope every hungry child gets fed, that's not the issue, i am pointing out that government doesn't fix what the issue actually is, it only wastes money continuously instead of fixing the problem, much like Social Security, Medicare, Welfare, SNAP, etc. etc. etc.I have no idea, and apparently neither do you but in the end so what? Bellyaching about the potential of shtty parents doesn't make the issue disappear.
I doubt if a hungry kid would care if a sandwich were paid for by a christian organization, secular charities or the .gov. In the end, does it matter so long as the kid gets to eat?
My post was kinda rhetorical. I never truly expected a real link to match your rantShould peanut be allowed in schools?: Yes
You expect me to find a Knox County school board meeting agenda from like 8 years ago? Talk to the Knox County Law Director, he will tell you what happened when a lawyer from Florida threatened to sue a local elementary school several years ago
