Hannity calls report Trump ordered Mueller’s firing a distraction | TheHill

Then...

Fox News host Sean Hannity said that the network had confirmed the reporting on Thursday after originally calling it a distraction.

"All right, so we have sources tonight just confirming to Ed Henry that, maybe, yeah, Donald Trump wanted to fire the special counsel for conflict. Does he not have the right to raise those questions?" Hannity said.

So in the hour he was on the air, he was told of a source who confirmed it. So what? You should applaud his honesty

Trump Ordered Mueller Fired, but Backed Off When White House Counsel Threatened to Quit - The New York Times

President Trump ordered the firing last June of Robert S. Mueller III, the special counsel overseeing the Russia investigation, according to four people told of the matter, but ultimately backed down after the White House counsel threatened to resign rather than carry out the directive.

Amid the first wave of news media reports that Mr. Mueller was examining a possible obstruction case, the president began to argue that Mr. Mueller had three conflicts of interest that disqualified him from overseeing the investigation, two of the people said.

First, he claimed that a dispute years ago over fees at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Va., had prompted Mr. Mueller, the F.B.I. director at the time, to resign his membership. The president also said Mr. Mueller could not be impartial because he had most recently worked for the law firm that previously represented the president’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Finally, the president said, Mr. Mueller had been interviewed to return as the F.B.I. director the day before he was appointed special counsel in May.

Another option that Mr. Trump considered in discussions with his advisers was dismissing the deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, and elevating the department’s No. 3 official, Rachel Brand, to oversee Mr. Mueller. Mr. Rosenstein has overseen the investigation since March, when Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself.

Working for Trump must be like herding angry cats through a minefield. The guy makes such self-destructive decisions. This whole investigation would have long been over without his constant attempts to divert and derail. What's sad is that he likely didn't collude with Russia, even if some of his cronies had improper contact. Yet, he may end up going down for obstruction of the investigation.

Hannity isn't a real reporter. He's an entertainer.

If anyone listens to Hannity and thinks they are hearing anything other than straight right wing talking points given in the most slanted and biased way possible, then they are obviously non-thinking minions.

I can’t remember, were you all squealing about this like you are now back in June when this was originally reported? Or are you just feeling more desperation now?

Exactly, that’s what being honest is all about. And publicly correcting the record.

You are aware that he and Mueller had a history, where there was a dispute?...so he questioned the conflicts as well as other conflicts of interest, but reniged on geting ANOTHER special counsel, but it was advised that it would be political suicide. ‘Allegedly’.

Their desperation reeks of cheap perfume found only on the highest quality Baltimore street walkers.

The Deep state is coming for all you idiots and I'm part of it. We need more guns and guards because we're going to build a wall around Alabama and get the Koch brothers to pay for it.

You really are off your rocker.

The Haslams are going to pay for that wall.

I am assuming the news report is true. If it is, Trump is done. Pence will have to pardon him.

If it's not true then that will be bad for the NYT.

My money is on it being true. But I'm open to it being wrong reporting.

Because you've been right so many times before now?

You will lose the Senate for sure. If you want a prayer of keeping the House, it's time for the GOP establishment to step in and get Trump the heck out of dodge. Before he takes them all down with him.

This is how I know you are trolling.

lol - "Well uh, okay, We'll deal with that tomorrow night" "right now we've got this shocking new video to show."

Trump slams report claiming he sought to fire Mueller, blames 'fake news' | Fox News

Trump argued at the time that Mueller could not be fair because of a dispute over golf club fees that he said Mueller owed at a Trump golf club in Sterling, Va, the report said. The president also believed Mueller he had a conflict of interest because he worked for the same law firm that was representing Trump's son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner.
