Not really feeling the Rubio to Sec State idea. Rubio never really piled on Trump AFAIR but I dont know how loyal he would be.

Really surprised Marco accepts this. 4 years in this admin vs a near lifetime job in the Senate. Very surprising. It also basically curtails the idea that he will be running in 2028 unless he resigns after 2-3 years.

The rest of the appointments seem pretty good though so far.

The main rationale for Rubio to SoS might be to send a clear massage to China and Iran; bit of whom are frequent targets of Rubio.
The main foreign policy goal of Trump I think will be to contain China; with the isolation (and defunding) of Iran being a close second. This seems to fit with that FWIW

the book went up for auction in August and failed to meet its reserve price. That doesn't sound like a machine protecting itself.

Looks like it was just an address/contacts book.

- judicial investigations take time.
- verifying the minors' identity and age is problematic.
- his partner in "crime" whatever-her-name is not cooperating trying to secure immunity by trading information.
- the reports of minors are greatly exaggerated and embellished.

We survived SoS Hillary, so I’m not too concerned about Rubio.

Trump isn’t going to go with just the best person for the job. There’s a lot of strategery involved to not dilute power when their replacements are made for the vacated positions. It’s a pretty safe bet that Florida keeps red seats and offices.

Plus, we have Blinken as the current SoS so big improvement. He and Jake Sullivan are like Laurel & Hardy.

My guess is Trump picked Rubio for SoS to stick it to DeSantis. With Vance and Rubio in the administration DeSantis' 2028 Presidential hopes are essentially dashed.

We can't discuss this, because you are accepting the "Putin is Satan and he and Trump are buddies" mainstream media narrative that portrays the charlatan dictator Zelensky as some sort of hero and this war as anything but a proxy war begun by the U.S. to weaken Putin and Russia and bring them to heel that has failed miserably.

Can you be specific? If you mean negotiate an end to hostilities whereby Russia withdraws and offers compensation for its aggression, perhaps so. If you mean Trump tells Zelensky he is cutting off all help and that his only way out is to give Putin 20 % of his country, mmmmmm.... no.

Its definitely a proxy war, but it was started by Putin. If every time Putin invaded a country we debated the relative worth of helping that country out based on whether we could find fault with their leadership, well, might as well concede to him all of Europe.
