Trump's tax returns to be released to the Dems...

So let’s see the entire financial picture of the Big Guy’s finances. EVERY year. EVERY relative and business associate. EVERY entity with his finger prints.

Trump’s line 1040 would barely scratch the surface of his finances. He doesn’t run every dollar of his wealth creation through his individual return. Likely very little of it.
Fine. I'm not arguing that.

Like I said ... release them then ... We have basically nothing concerning Trump's finances. That is unusual in modern history for the President of the United States.

We have his financial disclosures, ever looked at them?

Then why not release it? We have virtually nothing on Trump. Hell, we have much more on FDR ... and he died in 1945.

FDR could have filed a 1040-EZ if they had them back then.

It should be very obvious why Trump isn’t going to share his information. I already posted it. The democrats will use it to attack him for the rest of his life and beyond. AND they’ll distort anything that’s disclosed to their gullible base. “Paid” zero taxes (instead of being truthful about the tax “liability” in any given year).

How is that different than anyone else who has been President?

Trump is the first POTUS that was a businessman instead of a career politician before winning the Presidency since the inception of the income tax. That is what is different.

Exactly. When DT said he’d release tax information he probably had no clue how low the leftists are capable of going. Meanwhile, tax planning for those career politicians is to hide the good stuff from the returns they’ll give up during their years in office. Deferring income. Owning non-dividend paying businesses. Filtering income through Hunte… relatives.

LOL.

I didn't call anything a "gotcha." Like I said, it is already known that Trump's golf resort properties are not profitable, as he claimed during his years on "The Apprentice." His two truly successful business ventures have been Trump Tower in Manhattan and that reality show - which was built on the myth that Trump had a great business acumen. Everything else has been the result of savvy branding and what he inherited from his father ... which was far more than he once claimed.

I really do hope he is the Republican Party nominee again in 2024 ... I think Republican Party voters are just stupid enough to do it too.

You voted for a guy in a basement. Not sure "just stupid enough to do it too" should be your go to line.

Fine ... but it is strange that Trump doesn't do it.

Click on the link I provided in post #138 and you will find FDR's tax returns from 1913 to 1937 ... but Trump couldn't be so bothered to release his?

Just understand that he is an anomaly on this issue. Most Presidents, Vice Presidents and Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates do release their tax returns without even having to be asked to do it. It is weird that Trump didn't. It shouldn't be hard to figure out why this leads to suspicion.

Is this the hill you want go die on? In Biden's most recent tax returns do you think he accounted for all his foreign business dealings? Would be tragic if something around Feb. was discovered in regards to his accelerated wealth.

I have no issue with the IRS crawling up his butt. They have in fact, and they havent raised an issue about any of his taxes. Why would I be concerned when the entity responsible for checking these forms is fine with them?

This isnt a House committee issue. Why is the House assuming there is wrong doing when the IRS doesnt? It's not like the dont exist, or havent been submitted to the proper authorities. This is purely the House being a busy body.

And in my opinion if you are wanting some formal investigation done you would need some justification. Like an actual crime, or evidence of a crime. This investigation to see if we can investigate him, by someone without the authority to investigate him, is some bs.

Since Obama had already done that?

It’s REALLY rich that FBI employees are being labeled as “political opponents” by that rag.
Hmmm ... sure you want to call The New York Post, "a rag?" That's the oldest conservative media outlet in the country.

... and Trump has referred to James Comey and Andrew McCabe in such terms.

Good luck getting him to talk about Joe apple sauce . They avoid anything having to do with Joe and live on Trump obsession. Don’t worry though , they will all pull their heads out of the sand when the Rs put someone back in the WH again . It’s fascinating to watch .

It's unfortunate how the hypocrisy gets elevated with Biden in office.

“Political opponents” that also happened to be corrupt public employees. Which conservative groups attacked by Obama’s IRS were leaders of government agencies?

Not sure the bolded part is anywhere near true. There are a lot of financial disclosure requirements and most likely provide more information about his financial position/condition than his tax returns.

Look, I wish he'd go away. Time to move on. But the idea that his tax returns are suddenly going to "reveal" anything is complete political hokum. Extremely few people are going to be able to understand them. His enemies are looking for gotchas, items that take advantage of the tax code (legally) but the average Joe doesn't have any conceptual understanding. Could even be things the people making the most noise about it are taking advantage of themselves (see Dan Rather's diatribe about agricultural subsidies while his own farming investments were taking in as much as they could).

I don't care that he promised to release them. I don't care that anyone else released theirs, although I admit it was very amusing when we found out about the Obamas' miserly charitable giving, putting put some proof to what a hypocrite I think most liberals are. But I didn't need to see it.

Can someone tell me if he is legally bound to release his tax returns?

If you are talking about the first President to "actually" seek to use the I.R.S. as a weapon against political enemies ... then you are about 40 years off.

Former IRS chief recalls defying Nixon

Tricky Dick came first.

I was actually talking about hypocrisy to take the stance that any of the politicians are worse than the others . We some how forget that they are the elites , all live in ivory towers , have lost touch with the common people ( if they actually every were in touch ) and their world is nothing like ours . We are under the illusion that the ones we vote in , time and time again , will somehow change who they are and fix our problems . In a lot of cases , fix the problems they help create or championed in the past .
