Trump's Taxes

Structure the hypothetical however you want. The principle is "does the public have a legitimate interest in knowing the president's income?"

The public has no legitimate reason to see anyone's tax returns unless said person gives them permission

You think Trump has evaded paying taxes and the IRS hasn't caught him?

Curious... do you not hold people to their word? Trump said he'd release his taxes. So, obviously *cough* he has no problem with us seeing it, as past Presidents have done.

If he's got nothing to hide:

(1) Why did he say he'd release it?; and
(2) Why not release it now?

Don't give me his standard bullsh*t response "I'm being audited" horse crap. NOTHING prevents him from releasing his taxes while being audited.

That goes out to the rest of you donkey drone Trump nut huggers, too.

Holding people to their word.. meaning that if you like your Dr you can keep your Dr?

Don't be so jealous. But you are right size does matter

If a Chinese bank gave a president $10 million, would you consider that to be important for the public to know about?

No. Why? Because rich people know how to evade and survive. I am fairly certain Trump, along with every other super rich person has cheated the IRS.

Let’s say China gave him millions. You think he is the first to get it? Or the last? If so then you need to grow up. Like I said amidst all that’s going on right now Trumps taxes shouldn’t even be on the radar. But I guess when your side has failed at every single turn to take him down, I guess resorting to pettiness is your only option left.

We know he was audited? What makes you think that? Surely you don't believe a single word that slithers out of his lying piehole.

Because of who he is, and what he is, and has been, a wealthy public figure philandering playboy doing business all over the world "billionaire".

You don't think he has not been audited out the rear end.....? Then the only reason is his political connections and associations that would have prevented it. So, open the investigation into every one of those mayors, senators, governors, and staffs of multiple POTUS over a few decades.

I have a lot of wealth, and nowhere near his, regardless of what you or anyone thinks, he has liquidity and access to cash and assets that would take weeks to figure out. I have been audited many times, I'm a nobody when it comes to the accolades and career advancement opportunity Trump is to an IRS agent.

There are only two options: he has been, both personally, and financially, audited many times, and there is nothing. Or, he has avoided them, and let's see who he paid off to do so.

The IRS isn't stupid, and forensic accountants are no joke.

So he said something he shouldn't have if he didn't mean it and stand by it......go find me a DC scumsucker who means what they say.

So, why the narrative to release them, and not, consider the only plausible and probable outcomes......which is above.

Now, I'd love to see that corruption ladder and names.

My guess is that he saw the way Romney's returns were twisted by the media, he takes a very low salary from his businesses and doesn't want to get the "his secretary pays a higher rate than he does" BS. He should have been up front from the beginning and said "hell no".

I don't think for a second there is anything illegal or improper in his filings, he would have been nailed long before his run for POTUS if there were.

Agreed. I have been saying this since he was running for office. Anyone giving him campaign advice would be negligent if they didn’t bring up what happened to Romney. And it’s clearly evident that most people screaming for them have no clue what can be found. How many times have people said “it will prove he isn’t as wealthy as he says he is” or it will “prove he’s getting money from country x.” Nonsense.

Fun fact, I don't even recall starting this thread. Based on the date, it was shortly after losing my father, while I was battling cirrhosis myself. About 8 months before my transplant. My memories of that time are extremely hazy. Just weird to me.

Ok so please elaborate. Everybody knows the rich people have always exploited the law to their favor. That includes Trump, Clinton and every other person who has a net worth over $1 million.

Do you honestly think Trump or Clintons personal tax returns are important? If so, why? Is it really going to tell us anytjing we dont already suspect or know? Honestly, on a scale of 1-10 where 10 is the most important and 1 is the least, where does candidates personal tax returns rate?
I want to see Pelosi's tax returns going back to when she was elected

I am glad you are doing better. I did not know about your health issue or your Dad's passing. It's tough to face both at the same time.

Sorry to hear that man, but glad you're on this side of the dirt. I have hazy memories too... dating back to the Fall of 2016... was like a bad, crazy nightmare: we elected an moronic reality TV show host who bankrupts all his companies and bangs porn stars. It was so surreal.

The nightmare was our choices were Trump and Hillary. While I'm not a fan of either, I still feel like the lesser of two evils won. That says a lot about what I think of Hillary.
