I doubt there is anything nefarious about it. He is just in over his head.

The unintended consequence of this kind of behavior will be the IC community only giving him Intel on a need-to-know basis.

Depends on what it is, but it's possible that impeachment may have to be considered by the GOP. Trump is getting worse, not better. His refusal to abide by the norms of the office is now creating risk and is making the GOP on the whole look absolutely silly for not having the cajones to keep this guy in check.

I can believe that but the firing of Comey and his tweet about "tapes" is going to lead to a flood of leaks from the IC. He won't be able to keep what he had for lunch a secret from now on. It's a toxic atmosphere.

You can't impeach the POTUS for merely being a dumbass. If that was so, we wouldn't have had a POTUS for decades.

As for the politics of it, the GOP knew full well that Trump would be a disaster. They are still tediously trying to walk that line for when the bottom eventually falls out.

It's their own fault though. They drove their party members and the electorate at large to favor burning the whole thing down.

It's been to clear for a long time to those who aren't Trump sycophants, that the man perpetually lives in the moment without much forethought.

Politically, the chickens are coming home to roost, unnecessarily, on a number of fronts (one of which you allude to).

Internationally, besides divulging highly classified Intel from trusted allies, it is his greatest asset. It makes him totally unpredictable which was his predecessor's greatest weakness.
