TrumPutinGate

and now you are for leaks?

i am for these leaks if they actually prove something, if the government was sitting on something we should know about. but this was an active investigation, knowing a small piece just muddies the water. this doesn't actually prove anything and frankly I don't know if this sliver was something the general population needed/had a right to know about.

I'm not for leaks. I think she should be prosecuted if the facts are as reported.

I thought there was a better place for the note but couldn't find in on the first 2 pages so I just dumped it.

But this makes absolutely no sense. The dumb left wingers have harped on and on about how Trump and Putin are best buds and Trump is basically a Russian crony. So now this?

Well maybe Trump has turned in his Russian spy card and renewed his Chinese one. Maybe then one of you tin foil hat wearers will be able to provide some evidence for that.

Tom Clancy's new book. The Bear, The Dragon, and Little Red the Pheasant.

Didn't need the details of how Russian was trying to influence our election but for some on here couldn't take the governments assessment that they did try to influence the election and spew How? Prove it? That answers those questions. This Proves that Russia tried to influence the election but it don't even touch on the entire scope. Now it is up to the investigators to determine the entirety of the scope and it would be nice if they could do it without leaks of classified information.

lol. I want to know who we are planning on bombing next. doesn't mean I get to know it. I may also have questions about why are bombing them. still doesn't mean I need to know.

and plenty of other reasons to send out this pfishing expedition. Just getting contact info and links to various sources. black mail, bribes, heck maybe even just buying up the company, and knowing who to spy on.

I saw suggestions that linked this to the GRU but reading the articles there was again real tie to the Russian government. Russian programmers =/= Russian government.

I doubt Trump had a clue about this or authorized it.

All of that when all you had to say is you don't trust the NSA document or their assessment of the information.

I said she should be prosecuted. I have no idea whether she might have a viable defense. Time will tell on tha.

A viable defense? C'mon, really?

"Yep, I released the Top Secret document to the press because I don't like Trump!"

Let's see how long that one holds up in court.

what I don't trust are the conclusions other people have drawn from it.

I think we agree that this doc, now in the public sphere, would not be the end result of a full investigation. Its just a "sliver" that does not paint a full clear picture of the extent. Do we agree? Since it is now in the public sphere it has to have a public conclusion down the road but of course some are going to speculate now and draw false conclusions.

Federal court? Looking at some recent rulings it probably depends on what judge she gets.

I would think even politics would take a back seat in this case. Regardless of a judge's like or dislike of Trump, this person made the conscience decision to release classified information without being coerced. Even after signing Lord knows how many Non-Disclosure Agreements with that warning about jail time on it.

What's going to be her defense? He's an illegitimate President? He was duly elected in the same manner Presidents have been elected since the 18th Century.

Best choice? She takes a plea deal. Worst choice (but far more entertaining) is she goes to court to try and justify it. Too bad it will likely be a closed session since we are dealing with classified information.
