TrumPutinGate

There are several reasons why so many are having such a difficult time accepting reality.

1. For some, as I mentioned above, they are comfortable with treason, because it serves their perceived self-interests and/or because they hate their fellow Americans of different political/ethnic/racial/religious/etc. identities so much that even aid from an adversary's government is fair game. Some of these individuals post in this forum.

2. For others, they refuse to publicly accept it, because it's proof of what the rest of us knew all along: how stupid they are. These individuals can't deal with the fact they are truly stupid people, and so they double and triple and quadruple down, just hoping that the ditch they keep digging will eventually Jed Clampett them some Texas tea. This factor is the one that influences most here.

3. For the remaining group, the treason is so open and so brazen, they can't believe it's what is actually happening. They think of normal criminal paradigms and think that no one could be this openly stupid and criminal - basically traitors in broad daylight. They look at Donny's proposed "cybersecurity op" with Russia, for instance, treason as bold as a lion, and think to themselves that it just couldn't possibly be what it looks like. I'm not positive, but I think this may be where posters like volinbham fall.

As for the rest of us, we look at all three and think, simply, "How in the blazing ****..."

I break down Trump supporters into three main groups.

Reluctant Voters Didn't vote for him in the primaries. Held their nose and voted for him in November because he was the alternative to Clinton and might not be terrible. Partisan, but sane.

MAGAers Naive/low information voters who somehow bought into his campaign promises and were convinced that he would shake things up for the better. These people may or may not come around when the house of cards is exposed.

Red Meaters Folks who love Trump because he owns liberals with his tweets. They gobble up the FAKE NEWS, Deep State, Seth Rich stuff. They'll be in the bunkers justifying Trump's behavior until the bitter end.

You are nothing like me. I don't require medication to get through life with a shred of sanity.

It's cute that you admittedly voted twice for a president who was so incredibly blind to the Russian threat and who held the office of the president while, in your estimation, the greatest attack on our nation's sovereignty since its founding occurred.

It's cute that you then voted for four more years of the same foreign policy.

It's cute that you have now turned into Captain Hindsight in regards to Russia.

It's also cute that your voting record, in light of the handling (or lack thereof) of the Russian threat by the democrats, proves you are nothing but "a partisan hack who places party over country."

I stand by my claims during the election that Trump is a buffoon. You, on the other hand, are certifiably insane. Take your meds, and step out of your ****ing echo chamber long enough to realize life is too short to allow Trump to continue living rent-free in your head. Or you could continue spouting incoherent lunacy, and find a quaalude and a tall building. Either way, cheers to you, mate.

This should be quoted every time Donald (VProf) posts

You ever stop to wonder why I never insult posters like Velo, Septic, LG, etc.?

It's not that I necessarily agree with everything they post or they with me. It's that they treat their fellow posters with respect. They also do not promote hateful and harmful ideologies on here, like some.

The rest of this forum, however, I give back what they give. You included.

Whatever the case, I just hope they go away peacefully in the end.

I've encouraged others that, if you know a Donny voter who seems sensible, do what you can, tactfully of course, to slowly ease them into the inevitable.

As for the rest of them though, your Obsessed, Golfballs, and Daves of the world, they're too far gone. Just hope those types go back to the cellars from which they came and don't do anything stupid once Bobby Three Sticks' giant boomhammer comes down upon treasonous heads in Washington.

Very apt description

I'm trying to figure out what he'll call the group that's tired of the complete BS that's surrounded him since the day he got elected and is pissed at the entire political system for the gridlock that's enveloped our country.

I don't support Trump necessarily, but I do support the principles of trying to clean up the government. Call it a campaign promise if you will, but the swamp does need to be drained in Sodom on the Potomac.

I'm a little bit of all three, but I didn't have to hold my nose to vote for him. I didn't vote for him in the primary though.

It's a broad simplification to boil down to three categories.

I've encouraged others that, if you know a Donny voter who seems sensible, do what you can, tactfully of course, to slowly ease them into the inevitable.

By and large people don't change other people's minds on these kinds of things.

I agree.

In one ear and out the other. I suppose a good deal of them will just have to find out the hard way, unfortunately.

No one has a problem with draining the swamp. But hiring a guy that specializes in being a slimy lizard is not the solution.

But how is this family of grifters gonna drain anything....

Pudner also sees a problem, though: Trump's own decision to maintain ownership of his business empire, through a transparent trust that designates him as the only beneficiary. Pudner said it would have been wiser to avoid conflicts of interest by divesting — selling — the businesses, as other recent presidents have done.
But if draining the swamp means less lobbying, that isn't happening. Since Election Day, the number of new lobbyist registrations is up compared with a year ago.

But on Wednesday evening, the administration disclosed that it has granted ethics waivers to four former lobbyists now in the White House, allowing them to work on high-level policy issues of interest to their former clients. They are among 17 specific appointees who have been issued exemptions from conflict of interest rules in the first four months of the administration.
That’s the same number of ethics waivers that the Obama White House handed out — over eight years.

Despite his campaign promise to “drain the swamp” as president, Donald Trump’s White House features the former Capitol Hill staffers, Republican National Committee staffers, elite D.C. lawyers and career employees one would expect from a typical GOP administration.

Approximately 70 percent of Trump’s White House staff were working in D.C. before the start of the administration, according to a Newsweek analysis of White House employees and detailees, staff who are on loan from other federal agencies.

But hiring a guy that specializes in being a slimy lizard is not the solution.

He's not a lawyer.

However, there is a distinct lack of good choices across the board. As I said before the election, an outsider is needed to fight the system. Now, whether that's Trump is debatable. But someone who hasn't been corrupted by the Washington system is the only option to clean it up. The problem is the swamp is fighting back. And honestly, showing their true colors while doing it. Trump is a threat to their power and they are doing everything they can to destroy him. He's not exactly helping himself at the moment, but still, I've never seen such lunacy coming out of the media in practically everything he does. Every...little...thing...he...does.

You'll scoff, but he truly was the people's champion to destroy the Washington Establishment. They believed in him. Some still do. Others still maintain hope that he can make good on that promise. The "hope and change" Obama ran on never happened because he was a career politician. The people tried something else this time.

I don't think Washington can ever be reformed though.

Hey, any of our intelligent posters, what are the betting odds on when we finally learn what intel operations Benedict Donald and Putin actually plotted in their G20 closed door meeting?

10 VolNation bucks says the Germans tapped it.

We're going to have gridlock as long as people in Congress have an incentive to continue the gridlock. I don't see much changing until incumbents start being challenged from more moderate candidates in the primaries.

As I said before the election, an outsider is needed to fight the system. Now, whether that's Trump is debatable. But someone who hasn't been corrupted by the Washington system is the only option to clean it up.

I think the case for an "outsider" is overblown. But regardless, Trump will never "drain the swamp" because he doesn't care enough to be a reformer. He's barely staffing government, he shows little interest in policy (such as healthcare), he sits around watching TV news. You think he's going to change the Washington culture?

I said from Day 1....trump is about Trump and what makes his brand more money. Anyone who thinks he's in this for America is just kidding themselves. He has a brand and he want to expand it. Russia wasn't about winning an election it was about expanding his brand into a country ruled by a former KGB agent. There's a reason why Saudi Arabia was let off the hook for 9/11....he's expanding his brand

He's not stupid, he's having everyone around him look guilty in colluding with Russia but we'll never see any spec of evidence that he did.

I don't know that additional plotting is needed.

Well Trump meets Putin for the first (or second or third or fourth time, depending on which version of Trump you believe) next week. Will Trump give them something for nothing? Maybe give them their spy stations back in exchange for some meaningless trinket?

You obviously believe that selling 20% of our uranium to the Russians is much less serious than the dribble you listed above.
