TrumPutinGate

He wasn't "in the middle of a deal". There were some preliminary talks going on but nowhere even close to have a deal done. Trump had tried two or three times to get a building built in Moscow without success.

Further, as a developer the Trump organization would have several if not hundreds of brokers approaching them constantly about potential deals. Hell, my wife's company is a tiny flea spec compared to Trumps and she probably gets 2-3 calls a week from brokers about possible deals.

Felix Sater spent nearly a decade working with the Trump organization in search of deals in Russia and former Soviet Republics. On August 28, e-mails that had been sent from Sater to Trump's attorney, Michael Cohen, in late 2015 and early 2016 were leaked to The New York Times and the Washington Post concerning his efforts to work with a group of Russian investors to set up a flagship Trump property in Moscow. Both Trump and Cohen denied knowing who Sater was in December of 2015. They were lying. These talks had also passed the preliminary stage and Trump never disclosed this during the Presidential campaign. In fact, his denials have included saying that he had "nothing" even pending in Russia... another lie.

Yeah, how close was the deal to being done?

And I'll ask again, if he did lie about knowing who this guy is, so?

There is an established pattern of Trump lying when it comes to Russia. Trump crafted the response to the revelation of the June 9, 2016 meeting at Trump Tower which included Trump Jr, Kushner and Manafort with the Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya, Rinat Akhmetshin and other Russian operatives. This response stated the purpose behind the meeting was adoptions of Russian children. The number of people initially said to be in the meeting was false and it has since become clear the true focus of the meeting was to obtain dirt on Hillary Clinton. Whenever Russia comes up it's lie after lie... and never one negative word spoken about Vladimir Putin. If you find that to be completely innocent looking? Well, that's fine. I doubt Robert Mueller will agree with you but we'll see.

Not speaking about you personally but some people think lying is ok and some do not. I guess it just comes down to what kind of person you are.

I don't care if Muller agrees with me or not, the only thing I care about is Muller following the law and him prosecuting people that broke it.

So I'll ask this, what law was broken?

Lying about who you know and never saying bad things about Putin (assuming you are correct on both counts) are not collusion, are not crimes and are not impeachable offenses.

No I do not think lying is ok but lying outside of being under oath isn't illegal. You can't prosecute or impeach for lying to the public.

This is what drives me nutty about this thread - the vast majority of it is harping on activity that is non-criminal.

The big enchilada of collusion still remains not only elusive but virtually no one in this thread can even articulate what that collusion might have consisted of.

Most of them are probably soap opera fans and just dwell on the superficial drama.

The June 9, 2016 meeting at Trump Tower was collusion.

The answer to the collusion angle is simple.

Because Trump.

This has been covered in this thread before but I'll do it again...

Collusion: Secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy, especially in order to cheat or deceive others.

Federal law prohibits a foreign national from giving anything of value to a campaign engaged in a U.S. election. It's also a crime to solicit a foreign national to do so, or to even knowingly provide substantial assistance in receiving something of value. This 'something of value' can be information - not necessarily monetary. In this case, the foreign national(s) are Natalia Veselnitskaya, Rinat Akhmetshin and the other Russian operatives in the meeting. Their information was solicited by Trump Jr's "I love it" response to Rob Goldstone... and it's very noteworthy that Trump's campaign manager at the time (Manafort) was also in attendance at this meeting.

Guess the DNC is guilty then - they met with Ukrainians to get dirt on Trump.

The June meeting is what you want to impeach on? Awesome. Thanks for fighting for justice

Was Don Jr campaigning to be President?
