TrumPutinGate

Simple question then: If it is, indeed, a farce, why hasn't Rosenstein ended it? It's completely in his rights to do so and, obviously, his boss very much wants him to end it. Plus, the GOP controls congress. So why hasn't he?

I don't know the reasoning for that. But I do know the lack of evidence is apparent. It never made sense from the beginning.

I'm believe it will all be untangled before it's done. And it will be proven to be a sham. The most likely reason? Democrat butthurtitis.

The frenetic jumping from one accusation to the next to see what sticks should be a dead giveaway. They're chasing a ghost and taking all you suckers along for a ride.

Precisely. The SI continues, Rosenstein supports it, and EVERYTHING ELSE is pure speculation and opinion except for the actual charges levied and witnesses called.

THE END.

Im sorry I don't have an inside track on the investigation. I can only look at the presented evidence (or rather lack thereof) and draw reasonable consclusions.

And it's never added up. If you'd rather be one of the suckers who let your predetermined biases get you swept up in nonsense, be my guest. I think it's hilarious in a sad sort of way.

One day they just might present some evidence. Keep the dream alive, OBV. You'll probably get him next week!!

Evidence? You want Evidence? You do comprehend that Mueller doesn't want anyone to know what he knows for a reason, right? Christ dude.

Because he goes down with the Muller ship since he didn’t set guidelines and define the task. He’s just as desperate as Muller is at this point.

Look for him to resign this summer.

If he had anything he wouldn't be wasting his teams time on the rinky dink charges they've filed. He's got bupkis.

Wow. You good with 5+ years in prison? That's what 2 of the 4 are looking at.

How many of those charges are related to the original intent of the investigation: Trump / Russia collusion?

Muellers running a snipe hunt. You're just one of the suckers with a stick and bag.

So Bannon refused to answer certain questions before the ahouse committee today because the administration may claim executive privilege. So they subpoenaed him on the spot, to come back next week.

This is the beginning of the true fireworks. Trump will ORDER Bannon not to testify, thereby creating a legal decision for a court to rule upon the privilege. We are going to find out at least what they are interested in. The next 30 days are going to be YUGE!!!!

Will this help your obstruction of justice impeachment, or your racism impeachment more? On second thought, maybe you could work this into an impeachment for acting like Stalin, or even a Hitler comparison impeachment.

The crimes they find along the way set up leverage with witness testimony for the same reason cops cut deals with the dealers to pinch the suppliers.

Mueller may very well have nothing, then again the opposite could be true. If Dotard Donny hasn't done anything, he should welcome the exoneration and bask in the glory of the most epic 'i told you so' in history.

It's puzzling to see people whine and snivel about this investigation, my guess is if the subject was Clinton - they'd be cheering it on.

If I were his lawyer, I'd say, 'Keep your mouth shut and just talk to me or you'll end up like Bill Clinton,'" Jarrett said on "Lou Dobbs Tonight."

He explained that Clinton was forced to talk to independent counsel Ken Starr pursuant to a grand jury subpoena, and he ended up in a "world of trouble" for lying, resulting in an impeachment.

Dobbs pointed out that there was evidence of a crime in Clinton's case, but there is no evidence that Trump broke the law.

"There's no evidence of Trump-Russia collusion," Jarrett agreed. "But what I would worry about as a lawyer is an obstruction entrapment by Mueller during the course of such an interview."

Couple interesting takeaways:

1. Bannon said he will not invoke executive privilege when he meets with Mueller.

2. Mueller btw issued a grand jury subpoena, so he could theoretically dangle Bannon before them if he doesn't comply

3. Bannon actually united an absolutely fractured house subcommittee today. No house rep wants to be told "it's none of your business".

4. The White House looks extremely suspect by putting the kabash on Bannon. If you got nothing to hide as Trump claims, why do it?

The **** is starting to hit the fan. I suspect Trump may just pop one day and fire the entire governmental force.

I don't see much whining or sniveling about it. I think it's great. I see a lot of breathless reporting of the latest unsubstantiated rumors and people running with the days talking points.

I find it puzzling that some people who liked to mock and troll similar threads regarding the last administration lack the same gusto during this madness. Thread after thread of BS and nothing. We have some of our own Jon Stewarts here! 🤔

But let the good times roll. This is good stuff.

Just my opinion...Trump didn’t do anything, so he’s not worried. That’s why he won’t shut it down.

Executive Privilege was front and center when Nixon refused to provide the Special Investigator of Watergate with his tapes. The whole thing obviously didnt end well for Tricky Dick. I wonder if Trump is so arrogant and stupid to try the same thing again? If he refuses to back down from the "gag order" on Bannon before the house committee, I suspect we'll have a constitutional crisis already.

United States v. Nixon Edit

The Supreme Court addressed "executive privilege" in United States v. Nixon, the 1974 case involving the demand by Watergate special prosecutor Archibald Cox that President Richard Nixon produce the audiotapes of conversations he and his colleagues had in the Oval Office of the White House in connection with criminal charges being brought against members of the Nixon Administration. Nixon invoked the privilege and refused to produce any records.

The Supreme Court did not reject the claim of privilege out of hand; it noted, in fact, "the valid need for protection of communications between high Government officials and those who advise and assist them in the performance of their manifold duties" and that "[h]uman experience teaches that those who expect public dissemination of their remarks may well temper candor with a concern for appearances and for their own interests to the detriment of the decisionmaking process." This is very similar to the logic that the Court had used in establishing an "executive immunity" defense for high office-holders charged with violating citizens' constitutional rights in the course of performing their duties. The Supreme Court stated: "To read the Article II powers of the President as providing an absolute privilege as against a subpoena essential to enforcement of criminal statutes on no more than a generalized claim of the public interest in confidentiality of nonmilitary and nondiplomatic discussions would upset the constitutional balance of 'a workable government' and gravely impair the role of the courts under Article III." Because Nixon had asserted only a generalized need for confidentiality, the Court held that the larger public interest in obtaining the truth in the context of a criminal prosecution took precedence.

"Once executive privilege is asserted, coequal branches of the Government are set on a collision course. The Judiciary is forced into the difficult task of balancing the need for information in a judicial proceeding and the Executive's Article II prerogatives. This inquiry places courts in the awkward position of evaluating the Executive's claims of confidentiality and autonomy, and pushes to the fore difficult questions of separation of powers and checks and balances. These 'occasion for constitutional confrontation between the two branches' are likely to be avoided whenever possible. United States v. Nixon, supra, at 692."

Non sequitur.

Trump already shut Bannon down today with what amounted to a gag order. I doubt it stands though. If Trump resists Congress, the fireworks are going to be CRAZY awesome fun.

I would love to watch that dimwit, nutless Nunes (R) dirtbag lose his friggin mind if he's told to go pound dirt. And on the 9th day God said let there be unity. Voila! A House Committee chomping at the bit to **** Trump sideways.

We have had wall to wall coverage for days because Trump said ****hole in a meeting and someone immediately tattled and it’s the worst thing ever.

Yet we are expected to believe Mueller has the goods on Trump and co. AND NONE OF IT HAS BEEN LEAKED.

You’ve got him now.

Were you this giddy when Obama administration officials claimed executive privilege during the Fast and Furious investigation?
