I disagree.
What it looks like is they started an investigation into one crime and that led them to catch one of the principles committing a crime other than the one they were investigating. He admitted it, and a judge sentenced him to prison. Apparently, prosecutors believe that Donald Trump was involved in a conspiracy to commit said crime.
This kind of thing happens every single day across the country,to a lot of people who aren’t subjects of witch hunts.
If you get pulled over for a speeding ticket and the cop smells marijuana, searches your car and finds a pound of potthe dead body of a missing woman in your trunk, that’s not a witch hunt and you’re still getting charged with murder. Michael Cohen is a lawyer with million/billionaire clients. He could afford top notch legal representation. They advised him to plead guilty. Same with Manafort. Same with Flynn.
Anybody saying that is illegal or a witch hunt when a Republican special counsel appointed by a Republican assistant AG, appointed by an appointed AG, appointed by the subject of the investigation and confirmed by a Republican Senate, when there’s also a conservative majority in the house and on the Supreme Court, charges people from evidence he uncovered in a lawful investigation, and all these people, despite being able to make bond, want to plead guilty; none of them wants the facts of their case out before a jury (except the guy who actually got convicted... by a jury before he plead guilty to other stuff). None of them wants an appeal to go to a higher court and say that this wasn’t really a crime.
To a reasonable person, saying “that’s a witch hunt” looks like desperation.
