Shouldn't the answer be an emergency room having the discretionary ability to turn people away who shouldn't be there or can't afford to be there? Isn't that the better option?

Every other trade has the option of turning people away who can't pay.

It's my opinion that the government does us no favors by taking our personal rights away.
I don't think I've ever argued the opposite. I want more rights given back than many on here

I was simply commenting that he was appalled to be forced to do something responsible.

I don’t think that’s the issue. He’s forced to do something “responsible” to give to those that are not. As a responsible person he has an unjust burden placed on him to give to those that are not responsible. Why aren’t the ones that have their hands out forced to do what’s responsible?

People with pre-existing health conditions are irresponsible?

I won't get pedantic. You've clarified. But you did indeed say that Obama did him a favor by forcing him to buy insurance, which is a removal of his individual rights.

Good grief it was tongue in cheek.

Obamacare wasn't perfect but it did something and a few moves were positive. Completely different than those you support who did nothing then spent months on non-binding resolutions. Quit voting for and supporting the children in charge of these parties and we may be able to move forward. If you use a party name to identify yourself then you're the problem

Sure, that's a great option until you're the one who shows up at a hospital and gets turned away.

Preventative healthcare is much lower cost in the long run. But preventative healthcare tends not to occur unless one has health insurance. Thus, if everyone has health insurance, everyone is more healthy and that is less expensive for everyone in the long run.

The million dollar NICU baby is the classic example. If mom had just gone to wellness checks the NICU baby could likely have been prevented. Mom doesn't go to wellness checks if she doesn't have insurance.

Lol. Who pays for your home if you go into foreclosure? How do you know I can’t pay my medical bills out of pocket? The only socialism is forcing people to pay for something they may not need and picking and choosing who you want to give it to for free. You want to burden the responsible people to give to those that already mooch off the system. You want to put something in place them make it the same price for EVERYONE.

You equate home foreclosure with someone dying on the steps of a hospital that turns them away?

I don’t agree with all republican policies. I don’t agree with any democratic policies.
