TSA Scanning and Pat Downs

Been through both. Don't really care. Would prefer the pat downs if the TSA employed hot chicks.

i think we should request who does the patting. Imagine if they hired hooter's girls. i think you would see flying increase 3 fold.

of course we could get european soccer players for the women. most would have no problems with that.

"The TSA supervisor told him, “By buying your ticket you gave up a lot of rights.”

And, we continue to just bend over and give 'em up right and left. I've flown frequently in the past with my former employer with never a problem. I made my last flight to SLC on June 6, 2006 (6/6/6) for a vacation. Due to some issues with TSA, I will never fly again. Just me.

Splitting hairs about to what degree our rights are being violated is how we got on this slippery slope.

and all we had to really do was start profiling a particular group of people known to commit acts of terrorism.

the US could have learned a lot from Israel in this regard, you don't hear anything about shoe bombers and underwear bombers getting onto El Al flights.

Israel also does strip searches, but something tells me the crazy conservatives wouldn't like that...

but they don't do strip searches until after they've profiled someone and determined that they are a potential threat.

Israel isn't patting down 3 year olds and Catholic nuns.

Isreal also puts at least 8 air marshals on every flight.

I've had the pleasure of standing in the middle of Ben Gurion in my boxers and I'm an American, not exactly a threat.

What happens when someone dresses up as a nun C4 strapped to their chest? I want everyone being screened. If you're determined to be statistically a greater threat, then you deserve extra screening.

They have a bit more to worry about. I used to work flights from Atlanta to Tel Aviv a lot. their government doesn't care how much it costs, security is #1.

How many major airports does Israel have? How many does the US have?

It's a lot easier to lock things down when you aren't a country that extends across an entire continent has 1/16th of the world's population, but rather the size of Delaware with just a few million.

It's also easier to say "eff it, we'll search anyone that looks like Achmed" when you're 90 % of one religion and ethnicit.

It's proportionate. Well can be if the US wouldn't let $$$ come before security.

They always frame things in reference to "chest x-rays" and such to try and dissuade fear, and make people think, "oh, my doctor gave me one of those. Must be okay."

But there's a reason why x-ray technicians wear lead aprons, THYROID PROTECTORS (very vulnerable to radiation), and often step out of the room behind a lead wall. Radiation doses are cumulative, and stick with you for life. We're naturally exposed to some degree all the time from the sun, terrestrial sources, and such. But getting sprayed with it all over your body every time you get on a plane is going to be significant, over a couple of decades, for people that fly often.

Can't you just smell the litigation coming in a few years?

Personally I won't be doing it for health reasons. Too much crap gives you cancer. I don't need something adding to that. But I don't really have a problem with getting patted down like some people do. I got nothing to hide and as long as you don't b$@:h and moan, it's over pretty quick.

We spend more money per capita on defense and security than any other country on Earth, by a 2 to 1 margin. it isn't a "$$$" problem. Americans always think it comes down to dollars. You'd think we'd know better by now.

DOD and civilitan/commercial are funded separately. I'm talking about civilian/commercial aviation.
