TSA Scanning and Pat Downs

i think they should be agressive in profiling people, and make them go through it.

I just left Colombia and I was pulled aside and scanned twice, plus had my bags go through a thorough search each time. I assumed it was because I fit the typical profile of a drug trafficing mule. I understood why they did it and dont have any issues with it because my demographic is typically involved in that activity. if you are innocent, you just go through the process, keep your mouth shut and keep it moving. i wonder why CAIR and liberals have such a big issue with muslims/arabs being targeted in these searches.

Some where I think Bin Laden is laughing his ass-off for all the BS he makes airline passengers go through. I fly as little as possible. IN fact, I would rather drive if it's within 500 miles or so....

I flew from Knoxville to NYC the first day you could fly after 9/11 to visit my Mom and see one of my bro's games.

I am mexican/english and am dark skinned. I get confused for everything from Italian to Middle Eastern to a guy who just tans a lot.

Anyway, that day I was certainly the only 'brown' person in Tyson Airport. I got the full treatment- pat-down, sent through detector twice and questioned by some heavily armed security. At that time, I was pretty much out in the open and being prodded like a cattle in front of the general public. I didn't mind because I understood the fear at that moment.

The one thing that was pretty awkward was all the stares and glares I got as I entered the plane, that was a pretty bad feeling.

Anyway, just perspective from somebody who was actually profiled in an airport.

I flew the same day. From Ontario, CA to Hotlanta. Normally, about 5hours or so from my house to the hotel in Atlanta. Got pulled off three planes, finally bused to OC to fly out of John Wayne. Heavy pat downs and searches everywhere.Blue eyed blonde so I didn't fit any profile. Local SWAT teams & Nat. Guard heavily armed with dogs at all airports. Took 15 hours to Atlanta that day.

Obviously the TSA have some information on a possible threat during this holiday season. If you plan of flying these holidays, prepare to stand in a machine for a few seconds or get felt up. Just imagin yourself at the tailors

If you are a frequent flyer, then they need to figure out a "Buddy/Breeze Pass" system

Do males only pat down males, and women only pat down women... or can a woman pat down a man, but a man can't pat down a woman?

I would assume since it is law enforcement that a woman would be pat down by a woman, and a man by a man.

Let us know how it goes.

will be flying on T-giving day. wonder how that's going to go....
Yeah, me too.

I wonder if warming myself up in the men's room before the scanning is bad form. I don't want to make a bad showing.

Those airports can be cold.

If you warm yourself up, make sure to hold eye contact with the TSA guy as long as possible, and have slight smile. This would also work if going through the scanner.

I'm ready for something like in Total Recall, where you just walk down the highway and are scanned, but it doesn't pick up soft tissue so you're "naked."

i personally think it's a complete slap in the face of our privacy and is mainly because the TSA is too chicken to actually (gasp) profile. Heck I'd rather have no security at all then go through this stuff. I'm really tired of going "oh it's ok ha! I'd rather be safe" No, I'd rather that Debbie Doeswomen doesn't pat me down with her meathooks thank you very much.

I keep seeing it expressed here that profiling would somehow solve everything... Terrorists are a lot more clever than that.

are they? we aren't generally talking about genius level material here. at least not the ones blowing themselves up. they find they're best recruits are from rural areas with low education.

Which airports have body-scanning technology? - CNN.com

The TSA website lists all the airports using advanced-imaging technology to screen passengers

Why the hell woudl they list this?

We generally aren't talking about genius level material, here. At least not the ones actually working and doing things in the public view. They find their best recruits are from urban areas with low education.

the question is, will I get scanned once in DEN and again in IAH to catch my connector?
