TV, movies, music, Books and whatnot.

He did watch the Adventures of Brisco County Junior with me some. That's the last decent sorta western that you can watch with your kid.
one of my favorite shows EVER
kept hoping they'd do a remake but Julius Carry (Bowler) died several years ago

daughter went to a Comic Con in Knoxville....I sent the first three Evil Dead DVD sleeves for Bruce to sign and a publicity photo from BCJ I bought via mail order in like 1995....he signed everything

The coolest photo she got there was from C. Thomas Howell. (She didn't know who he was.)
He was the Boston Reaper on Criminal Minds.
So he gave her a photograph of him in character as the BR signed: "Hey XXXX (her name), Fear the Reaper" and signed it "George Foyet."
She came home and said that dude looked familiar.
I was ready to toss her out the front door because when she was little we watched Gettysburg and The Outsiders.
Then came the "Oh yeah" moment. hahahaha

The Reaper episodes were great. If you've ever seen The Hitcher movie with C. Thomas Howell and Rutger Hauer, you can see where CTH developed that Foyet character from Rutger's character in The Hitcher.

I just told Tiffany about the Santa clause, she's wanting to watch it now
Did you ever watch The Chosen?

I saw you asked about how to watch it in the movie forum.

I haven't been able to connect, for lack of a better term. I mean, I've had a few "moments" but overall I'm just not feeling it. Don't know why.

It might be because the characters are just too "normal", if that makes sense.

Maybe I'm being unfairly critical. Idk.

I haven't yet, but Tiffany and the girls watched some I know

Anyone seen this? It's rated 7.5 on Tuner. I most always really like movies rated 7 or higher by them.

The true story of Mamie Till-Mobley's relentless pursuit of justice for her 14-year-old son, Emmett Till, who was brutally lynched in 1955 while visiting his cousins in Mississippi.

I haven’t heard about this one, but I absolutely want to see it.

Thanks.
I talk about Emmett Till when I do To Kill a Mockingbird in class for historical context. If this is PG-13, it might be something I can show when I'm able to actually "teach" (what I call the time after standardized tests are over, as bad as that may sound).
Seriously, I will check this one out for sure.

Glad you can still talk about it in the classroom.

tl;dr
My cousin's a retired teacher out of Chattanooga. She and her husband live in Behr's neck of the woods (in Punta Gorda). She and I talk quite a bit about what she did and what I do. She says the things I tell her I do that there's no way a teacher could talk about in Florida schools where she is. She has a lot of friends who are teachers down there. I don't know.
I just know that I try to give these kids the best I have every day and expose them to ideas and encourage them to think for themselves and be critical thinkers. Our test scores are great, but I don't use test data to guide what I do. The number crunchers, people lacking common judgment, and the politicians have ruined public education in a lot of ways.
I'm not changing to accommodate their dumb a$$es. I care about my students as they move forward in life.

You must talk about not drinking alcohol. That's about the only thing down here that I know of that's prohibited to talk about.

which is ironic, because a couple of years ago the SAT essay topic was on lowering the drinking age to 18 nation wide hahahahaha
Edit: pro or con

That's Awesome. if you ever get a chance read his autobiography "If Chins Could Kill" I usually could care less about the life of some actors life and personal ego, but his book is hilarious and surprisingly humble. I had no idea that he'd been broke after evil dead movies, and had to work as a security guard.

The coolest photo she got there was from C. Thomas Howell. (She didn't know who he was.)
He was the Boston Reaper on Criminal Minds.

NO JUST NO You do NOT refer to C. Thomas Howell As "that guy from criminal minds." He is the bad ass Robert from THE Wolverines who valiently defended us from Russians and Cubans in WW3! That is how you introduce that man. He is ROBERT! He will forever be Robert and the coolest Wolverine to wolverine, and is not impressed with how Russian's die, cause he's seen it before pal. And hate keeps him warm!

I would have deff got him to autograph some wolverine stuff....if I in fact cared about autographs or had wolverine stuff to sign. Either way I would have had to shout Wolverines and put my fist in Air upon seeing him. (i'm sure this would be new and unexpected on his part)

If she hasn't seen Red Dawn yet you have failed as a parent! However if she watched the Outsiders, and Gettysburg, those are excellent starts.

I had a situation where I was on the elevator with this author at a Dragon Con, it was early in the day and most people were not up yet. I had an early game scheduled and wanted to get there first. Guy in a suit noticed my badge and asked if I was there for convention (duh), and what did I do? I simply said I'm a college student just here for convention (1990 I think). Then I said What do you do? He said, I'm "Piers Anthony" ..I said so what do you do? Somewhat Dismayed, "I'm an author". So I said anything I might have heard of?

I literally watched the man's soul get crushed and ascend to the heavens.

Told friends later who said I was an idiot, and should have got autograph etc...but honestly watching Piers Anthony's soul get crushed was worth it.

Man I forgot how much I loved that movie.
Robert was always my favorite.....

C. Thomas Howell was awesome.... I think I heard a story that he had grown up on a farm etc and was only person on cast who knew how to ride, so that scene with the horse rearing up etc was all him.
