TV Shows - underrated vs. overrated

I've followed a few great shows that had great storylines the past few years but never survived one season. Mainly the production cost way more than the ratings they were receiving.

Invasion (05-06)
Jericho (06-08)
FlashForward (09-10)

Never understood why Jericho didn't do better in the ratings. If the fans of the show had put as much in to supporting the show as they did to protesting it's cancelation, then it would have survived.

I really enjoyed Jericho but when season one or two whichever it was ended, it was off the air for so long that when it came back, I had forgotten about it and never went back. I would imagine I'm not alone in that.

First three seasons of Lost not overrated, IMO, and I really enjoyed House. I'd probably put both in the middle. I think they got the hype they deserved.

Most overrated show of all time for me is American Idol. I can't wait for it to end. It has gone on way too long. With the exception of a couple of artists, none of the people who win ever do anything relevant. The people who are making music and becoming stars are doing it without crap "reality" TV.

I have the invasion series on DVD. I finished it a few months ago and I kick myself because the show was great and there was a big cliffhanger in the season finale.

I have read that there is hope for Jericho getting a movie to finish the series. I hope it can have the same fate as Arrested Development. I'll buy the two Jericho seasons on amazon in the near future.

Jericho started off strong but the story got predictable halfway through the season and the writers werentvery good with character development. it had potential...

I personally think pretty much "reality" anything is overrated. I don't watch any of it anymore.

Names I didn't notice that I think are underrated:
Firefly
Sledge Hammer
Sports Night
The Tick (animated) Silly, but made me laugh
Life

I knew I liked you :p

Sledge was a classic.

Life is the first thing I thought of when I saw this thread title. The first season was awesome and the last episode of that season was the bomb - especially when he was driving that GNX like a boss.

The female cop was smoking hot too.

I never said Firefly for two reasons.

1. It got a good movie at least.

2. It depresses me greatly.

Yeah, CBS originally planned to pull the plug after that first season, but they got a huge backlash from fans so they came back with 6 more epiodes to bring the story to an end. The ending wasn't very well done IMO.

Life was great....at least when they cancelled it...they sorta tied up some loose ends....the way he killed the Russian leader in the SUV and the bodyguards just let him be was awesome....RESPECT...and his partner is the new assassin/hit woman in PERSON OF INTEREST....

Also, he was awesome in Band of Brothers and he is great in Homeland.....great actor

Ah ok. I didn't know why it was off air for so long.

I think Homeland is overrated, even though I like it and watch it. I just for the life of me can't understand why Damien Lewis won best actor over Bryan Cranston.

6 episodes to bring sudden closure to the series is not enough. It's better than nothing but Jericho had a horrible ending.

Dr Who is not overrated if you actually understand it. Low production cost forces a lot of people to not be interested.

Underrated - Carnivale

Overrated - Any get famous quick reality show (Idol/The Voice/etc)

Only flipped through a handful of pages, but Bob's Burgers in underrated, imo.

Most people I've encountered that don't like Seinfeld just flat don't get the show. And I don't mean you're too dumb to get it. It's kind of like British comedy. it's just a brand of humor that escapes some people.

My friends that didn't like it were at least mildly ADD and formed their opinion based on a couple episodes. Once they hit their mid to late 20s, most of them started talking about episodes and asking to borrow seasons when they saw me because they later got into the show.

I think it would be remiss if we didn't say that the sex tape that the girl from Teen Mom sold made her 1 million dollars (and her father helped broker the deal).

That almost makes it worth it. and by almost I mean... if you have no problem with all dignity for your great grandchildren being gone before they are born.

Yeah and after taxes it's more like 650k.

What an idiot. Great body, not a great face.
