'20 TX QB Haynes King (TAMU Commit)

Funny how this kid was basically a lesser known QB prospect that Chaney was after as a good addition to Bailey but not a name that would push Bailey away...and then he blew up into a bigtime prospect. Hard to keep a good QB under the radar.

If we get him, awesome!
If we don’t, we don’t have to worry about the drama of possibly losing Bailey.. Bailey is much more important to this class because of the relationships he’s made trying to help put this class together... I think we’re on the cusps of seeing some of those relationships turn to commitments

unless this kid ends up significantly better than Bailey, I don’t ever see him seeing the field unless for injury. Harrison will already have the locker room. He’s already grown strong relationships with these kids and has shown he’s a natural leader.

Every single elite program is going to have competition for the QB position whether another QB is taken in the same class or not. If you’re elite you start, if you’re not you’ll be replaced. What King and Bailey have to decide is what staff gives them the best opportunity at being developed. No homer right now but tell me a college offensive staff that has a better list of accomplishments than Tennessee; Chaney has had top tier offenses in multiple stops at multiple schools, he got Nathan Freaking Peterman drafted, has experience with every single position on offense. Then you’ve got two offensive coaches that also took their teams to National Titles (Tee won a NT; I know Weinke sit out but he was responsible for fsu’s run), both also played at a professional level.

The relationships and trust in those coaches should trump everything else if both kids are serious about being the best they can be. Distance, competition, etc shouldn’t matter unless it’s close as far as the relationship. Jmo though, idk what goes through the mind of a high school kid in deciding.

”No Decision. Holding pattern.”

That’s the text I just got from his father. Kid is clearly torn which is why I’ve felt like the silence has been a tough read the last couple of days

I think he winds up staying home then.

Probably but if he truly wanted to be there, he’d have done it already.
The same could be said about us.. and that he hasn't committed here despite the relationship he has developed here says to me aTm really had him thinking about staying put... The longer it goes, imo, the better the chances he goes there.

There’s that but I was talking along the lines of it being home. If he truly was ok with being there close to home he would have put out the staying home tweet by now. I think he really want to be here but in the end. With Bailey committing to us and no other Qb being taken this year at AM, he’ll end up picking them, reluctantly.

Yep. Longer it goes less chance we get him.

We were still leading coming out of the visit to A&M but they’ve stayed on him. Extremely appealing to Texas kids to play for a major instate program. A&M has some playmakers already in place and Fisher has a good history of elite offenses. The relationship with Chaney and Weinke was winning it over but it’s hard to pull a Texas kid when he’s getting pressured from all sides to stay home. I still wouldn’t be surprised to see him choose Tennessee but I think this is starting to tilt In A&M’s favor.

Disagree. I think AM is the easy decision and he would’ve committed there if that’s where he wanted to go. He’s trying to find enough reasons to commit to Tn. I believe That’s where his heart is. Just my read on the situation
