'20 TX QB Haynes King (TAMU Commit)

Wasn’t Peyton the no.1 recruit though? Each situation is different. Like in a debate of Fields v Lawrence I was always with Lawrence. In that instance mobility doesn’t matter because TL is such a good passer.

Difference in this Bailey vs king situation is that bailey isn’t nearly that level passer. Stats also aren’t close and Bailey hasn’t won in high school like Lawrence, manning or king. He’s good not great. King looks like he might be great so I’m hoping we get him.

Let’s put this on the table for you guys.

1-HB isn’t immobile he is a 4.7 kid not a track kid so he hasn’t spent 100’s of hour learns to run a 40 yard dash. A.Glibert ran the same 40 time as HB. He plays in a Pro style offense in High School. No reason to have to run when you can simply shuffle up or to the side and drop a dime.

2- He played THE 7th toughest schedule in all of High school football last year per MaxPreps. While avg 330 yds per game and 4 tds. With his offensive line giving up an avg 45 pounds per contest.

3- Good chance his team wins state if he doesn’t break his collarbone in the first half of the 9th game of the season!

4- He has played some the toughest completion in America while averaging 300 yds a game and 63% comp percentage for his career.

5- Go to his game tape every team we play he has to throw passes into 6 to 8 man coverages. Every team has 1 game plan when they play Marietta it’s to stop the pass. Not many can! If you avg 35 points a game and the D gives up 40 it’s the QBs fault?

These empty comparisons of King, Manning and T.Lawrence are stupid. HBs stats ARE BETTER than T. Lawrence with HB playing way way tougher comp! Btw if HB plays 15 games this year and hits his avg he will miss T.Lawrance’s all-time passing record by around 800 to 900 yds while playing in 20 less games. So you say HB isn’t and elite passer. STATS don’t lie or have an opinion Sir!

Better grow some thick skin if you think the small % of HB doubters on the forum are a problem. Once he's the starter for the Vols, it gets way worse.

Best advice I can give you is to leave message boards alone. Never a good idea for family and close friends of recruits to engage with lunatic fans on message boards. VN/VQ/247 represent a very tiny portion of fans and I've seen this happen so many times over the years and it rarely ends well. Don't waste your time arguing with keyboard champions on here, trust me, just lurk at most, don't post.

Bailey is a legit talent for sure. Assuming the reports are true that Bailey is aware of UT taking 2 QBS and unafraid of the competition, I hope we land King too. With the lack of talented depth in the QB room, we need to take two guys just in case of injury. Hopefully guys the caliber of King and Bailey will push each other to be potentially better than they may have been without the competition. Both seem like great leaders, good people. Both seem talented. Both would benefit immensely from Chaney and Weinke. Both would help Tennessee back to the top!

If we get King, nothing wrong with UT fans being legit excited about two outstanding QB recruits. I know I will be.

I agree it is stupid to try to denigrate one to build a case for the other, especially at this point.

Competition is a big part for sure. HB easily wins in that category. And as far as that record goes HB would have to throw for ~6000 yards this year lol. That’s a huge if you’re referring to in your post.

As I’ve said I think HB is good but I think King would beat him head-to-head. I’m just some dude posting on an Internet forum though 🤷🏻‍♂️

Totally agree with you. But you will never be able to convince the Brandon Stewart fans on this board.

Yeah exactly. I’m not trying to denigrate HB at all. Just saying why I think King is better.

You’re preaching to the choir; outside of a few DAs everyone on here thinks Bailey is elite.

Bizarre flex, but okay. We all know HB is an elite talent—only a few idiots say otherwise.

I absolutely love the prospect of Bailey as our future starting QB, but if OLB is going to get worked up about varying fans opinions on a recruiting forum then he may want to stay off VN. None of us are on the coaching staff. We are rabid fans with opinions. Some of us are very knowledgeable. Others not so much, but we all love Tennessee football.

I have thick skin just want some stats put out. It’s all fun and games because no one can tell the future!

Don’t know if HB will be the answer for UT. All is unknown at this point. I am sure King is a great player. Can careless because what HB has been told by the staff they need to get the best QB they can to back him up!

two quarterbacks who are very good football players--enough to start at any program in the country--who will play on the same college team and compete. It is a WIN WIN situation for the Vols. Both kids very good in different ways... will be a fun competition to watch if King becomes a vol

how on earth did we become so negative that this mere possibility is criticized so harshly...?

Let me just say we have some great fans but you’ll probably have more stress in dealing with us message board idiots than you get out of the deal. 😂

It's wild, man. No other position do people ever complain about having too many studs. But for some reason people feel they need to "pick a side" and support only 1 QB on their favorite team. With it being the most important position on the field one would think that having many very good options is a good idea, especially when backups are 1 play away from moving up the line.

This staff wants to make us elite again. Only way to do that is to load up with as much elite talent as possible at every position and coach it up. Build it up with S&C and get most of them into the NFL. We are on that trajectory and HB will only benefit from it. I really appreciate everything he has done so far to help in that effort.
