'20 TX QB Haynes King (TAMU Commit)

His dad makes $133,000 a year as the coach of Longview. He’s not coming to TN for a high school coaching job.

Some schools in Texas spend $50-$60 million for a high school stadium that seats 18-20,000. High school football in Texas is at a totally different level than high school football in Tennessee

I somewhat disagree. Agree on more passes but believe it will consist of plays that have to mask OL play, possible continuing lack of receiver speed and JG's weaker areas. All combined, quite an intricate task.
No offense, but I think your bias against Chaney is causing you to oversimplify, resulting in diminishing the accomplishment that it would actually be.

If he pulls this off, I think he's earned way more credit than "just call more pass plays".

Don't care who the OC is, just saying JG is already very very good. Top 40 national QBR last year with bottom tier OL. That is outstanding and overlooked by so many.

I think proximity to home is King's family's issue, not his-- like it was for Blackshear. IMO, if he chooses aTm, it's because he thinks his odds of starting there are greater. So he'll watch Bailey, compete against him this weekend and see whether he thinks he has the advantage. Elite QBs don't want to sit behind other QBs-- they want to put themselves in the best position to be the guy.

I hear Maryville has quite the recruiting budget, eh @mrorange211 ?

I think we'll fresh-start the offense with a new QB next year. Every scholarship QB left on the roster thinks he can win the job, the guy(s) coming in will feel the same and the one(s) falling to the bottom of the depth chart will transfer, IMO.
This is interesting 🧐
Do you think anyone on the current roster will emerge later in the season.

Love Bailey but he’s not really brought anyone yet to the table who actually has committed. Now, if three or four we are on already had committed, then I think we could feel differently. Who do we have committed that would walk today if Bailey left?

Imo his effectiveness in that department increases if king picks AM. Like it or not that cloud is there. It’s partly why I’m torn. I love king ability. Looks fantastic. I also love Bailey and think his connections are greater not only this class but future in areas we recruit hard. I think if king chose AM and Bailey was the unquestioned guy this class we would see some more pull in peer recruiting

Good point. He likely thinks let me see how we stack up against each other before i make a decision to leave home and compete with him.

No, Bigboi doesn’t think he’s good either and how Polite it was to put a “tone setting” hit on him and he’s not on this site. Oh wait, he’s probably on this site lurking like deja vu. You’re right. 😏
That "tone setting" hit I believe it was Tim Jordan that decided to help someone with their man instead of block his.

Thanks Captain Obvious.

"He said he told the coaches at Auburn, Duke, Tennessee and Texas A&M that a decision would come on Wednesday, it's obviously Friday.

He said he's still looking for that "clue" that's going to put it over the top. He could decide while he's here.

Story coming ASAP."

Could it be he is waiting to see how he vibes with Bailey this weekend ?
i think so, maybe. and i think @LA Vol hit the nail on the head too. may just want to see how they stack up against each other and take a little test drive on what a compeition between the two of them would look like. probalby not a bad idea on either front.

I went to Soddy Daisy in the late 90’s and we had some good crowds. 1999 vs Cleveland for home opener had about 10k, regular season games against the enemy, Red Bank, would push 20k at UTC football stadium.... good times

I doubt there's any state that can compete with Texas High School Football. It's damn near a religion out here. I lived in Tennessee for 35 years and it's just not the same sport. People out here live for Friday night football.
