'20 TX QB Haynes King (TAMU Commit)

That says a lot more about a player’s lack of intelligence than anything else. Another year of experience as a starting QB in an SEC program with a solid coaching staff can absolutely make a difference.

But that’s offset by a much stronger QB draft class in 2021. The NFL is always desperate for QBs and the 2020 draft is likely a clearer path to making a squad for JG.

These analysts make a living with this. Anybody with a 100% correct pick, I'll go with. Go with your head not your heart on this one.
Lol. They dont get punished for being wrong. Not saying your guy doesnt know stuff. But this is definitely a job like weather forecaster that you keep after being consistently off. Just having the job doesnt grant him some extra level of believability.

He hasn't thrown for 3000 yards total in two years. He doesn't make pre or post snap reads well. He doesn't manage the pocket well. His decision making is too slow. It would take a GREAT year this fall or a miracle of some kind for him to be an early draft entry.

We know, and have heard numerous times about your opinion of JG. You don't have to come running every time his name is mentioned. Even though you're right about the yardage, we'll have to wait and see who is right in this case. I'd like to see how he will perform with decent coaching from Weinke and Chaney.

Go back and watch JG’s high school film. He had some incredible runs. I think his problem is an overall lack of confidence in himself. Hopefully Chaney and weinke can help him with that
He had “incredible runs” against a bunch of slow, undersized New Jersey highschool kids....he wasn’t plauing vs Texas or Georgia kids, he was playing vs New Jersey kids and there was absolutely no reason to believe he was a dual threat qb. And as we saw literally in his first collegiate game vs UMass 3 years ago, he is and always was a qb that wants to play almost exclusively from the pocket. He’s pretty athletic when he escapes the pocket which is rare....but he in no way was or is a dual threat qb. He’s 100% a prostyle qb and always has been.

i agree.

i'm also anxious to see what Chaney can do with him...

the biggest problem with the whole converstation with JG is all the "if's"....if he had a good OL, if he had a real OC/QB coach, if he had great WR's, if he had a reliable run game, if, if , if..........

time's running out, it's not all his fault mind you, but the clock is ticking none the less.

all that said, i am still relatively excited about what kind of progress he can make in this particular system.

The fact that JG was rated as a dual-threat was stupid to begin with.

His high school stats: 251 carries, 523 yards, 12 TDs, 2.1 YPC

You know who had a better yard per carry average than him and half the amount of rushing touchdowns on about a third of the carries? Quinten Dormady, who was rated as a pro-style QB.

Dormady's stats: 83 carries, 223 yards, 6 TDs, 2.7 YPC

Jarrett Guarantano's High School Football Stats
Quinten Dormady's High School Football Stats
This is 100% correct. Just as the recruiting services couldn’t have been more wrong about Dobbs being a prostyle qb, they were as equally wrong about JG being a dual threat QB. He was and is a prostyle qb who can run a little if the pocket collapses and he’s aware of it.

But the fact that he is 32 out of 32 does....

This was still a issue in this years spring game. Other parts of his game are pretty solid. If CJC can help him improve this part of his game big things are possible but if not I could see him possibly sharing reps with JT or Brian at some point this season.

I just don’t think the kid wants to compete against HB. It’s not that he is scared but if he can’t beat out HB then he will be riding the bench possibly into his junior year. JMO!

I’m hoping for a GREAT year in this case. If it’s mediocre or bad I think we just start an underclassman in 2020 regardless of what JG decides to do.

Which circles back to why we need Bailey and King both. There will be plenty of opportunity for them as freshmen.

Every interview he says that doesn't matter. Every analyst says that doesn't matter. But I guess he could be lying and they could all be wrong.

To be fair, if it concerned me as a recruit, I would never admit it either
Stud QB's don't think like that. And despite what some of our fans think, UT's QB room is mediocre at best, with no depth right now, and needs major help. Which is likely what Chaney and Weinke are selling him, and likely why he's not concerned with another QB signing in his class. He knows JG is gone after this season leaving 2 guys that Chaney didn't recruit and whoever signs in 2020 class. Seems pretty appealing to a big time QB (or two) IYAM.

I remember “discussing” these stats with Breakerboy. 🤣
I remember D4H commenting on one good run JG had in highschool and declaring him a faster and better runner than Josh Dobbs. Lol. It was my first of many “discussions” with D4H on VN. It was an idiotic statement to make at the time and his play at Tennessee has borne that out.

No disrespect but I doubt you know how every stud QB thinks. Really?
