It’s the staff’s flaw…they simply are not closers. This isn’t UCF.

Only closer is our d line coach. Our defensive coordinator is the most disappointing…if your scheme is meh and you can’t recruit, what value do you bring.

They closed with four, 4 star players on early signing day to put the Vols at 11th currently in the country on Rivals. That's not too shabby considering all the turmoil and NCAA mess.

When a guy “ commits” to TN and then flirts with a new school every week, it tells me he’s lost interest for some reason. The longer this goes, the less I like our chances.

Tell me, what’s our current class ranked?

Until we know otherwise, I’m thinking he’s just taking this opportunity to visit new places and meet new people. Surely he can see the Vols are his best shot, otherwise he wouldn’t have committed so soon. Even if he is checking the other “pastures”, common sense should keep his commitment here.

Come talk to me next year when I’m on the sideline and we shall see who has zero information and who likes to talk big and bad on a board.

I’ll come talk to you right now. Just because you’re in charge of the wires to the coaches head set doesn’t mean you can see into the future

WAFFLE HOUSE! WAFFLE HOUSE!

I think you two should settle this in traditional VN fashion.

Unless of course you're....

Georgia and Bama didn’t prove anything? Florida will finish strong with transfers and with remaining high school recruits and they beat us every year. Those are the teams I compare to.
To be fair, I question the true quality of some of the transfers Florida has taken. Sure, 247 gives them good transfer rankings, but 3 of them are following Napier from ULL, and I'm not sure if they really deserve the ratings boost they're getting. Maybe they do, but I'm just not certain. They weren't playing SEC level talent every game there.

As for how they'll finish, we'll see. I'm not writing Florida off yet, but I'm not going to proclaim them a world-beater either.

Lol closed with the #14 class after early signing day after what should've been a sh*tshow of a season that turned out pretty decent (would've been a GREAT season minus a few tough breaks)
Didn’t say they can’t coach on O, they lack in the recruiting department. Fingers crossed the hire from UNC helps.

Rivals is no longer credible. Garner can coach and recruit and was a main piece of that close. Anyone who thinks our DC is impressive to date, is not watching and probably thought Pruitt, Butch, and Dooley were amazing after first season even though the flaws were clear.

We have a head football coach, recruiting will determine if he can “chase championships.”

Yep
Some just want everyone as miserable as they are!
Ha! Sillly view. It’s not miserable to point out the obvious. DC in particular is underwhelming. We have a head coach and an offense, no doubt. Recruiting is the difference in championships or being the Iowa of the SEC.

No one wants the coaches to fail at all. In fact, these are the first coaches in a while who showed positive development. But it’s not wrong to say that they are lacking in recruiting other than our two proven SEC coaches. They just need to improve recruiting immensely to compete the way Tennessee should. But everyone should be thrilled with how this season went and the improvement on the field. I hope we win 8-12 games a year for the next ten years with JH and have some stability. You can still point out some flaws with this staff but still hope for the very best.
Agree and anyone calling you miserable, has their eyes closed

He was impressive with what he had. The question is, what can he do when he actually has the pieces for a good defense, and can he get those pieces. It's not like we were putting blue chip talent out there on defense this year. Given what he had to work with, he did a good job. But yes, we need to get better.

Just seems like some can only see the flaws. There will always be flaws and things to be concerned about. But there are some that get a little giddy whenever anything bad happens.
Then don’t lump those who point out flaws as negative. Those of you who can’t handle folks pointing out flaws seem emotionally weak.

Balanced view. I don’t know whether he can coach on D or not. Seems he always made the wrong 3rd down call.

Possible, or the players on the field weren't talented enough to execute the call. We absolutely need to improve our defensive personnel. Then we can make a more accurate call on Banks. It's possible he really does suck, but it's also possible we just don't have the talent on that side of the ball. Or could be a combination.
