You’re off the mark. He is good enough to be doubled by most of our competitors, and still managed 27 pressures. He’s a high caliber SEC DL. He will be missed. Rodney has some principles about compensation for his players and he doesn’t like certain players being rewarded more than others. Last year when Baron wanted to look, Garner told him best wishes. He came back. This year, my guess is that the grass will be greener and he’ll get paid. He also may go pro or may come back. His draft grade is right on the edge of go/stay.2 sacks and 4 tackles for loss in SEC play. Fine season. Certainly not great by any means.
Point is, he’s not some game changer that is worth throwing a bigger bag at.
First you blame the game, then the schools. I guess anything to keep from admitting the truth, and pushing your agendaWhat started the issue was schools signing huge media contracts and NCAA football becoming a nationwide entity. That paved the way for the video games to even begin to make money.
And who sued to get those rights? Those "entitled" schools sued the NCAA and then big money came into the sport.
But sure, it was the players, not the schools.
1984 Supreme Court verdict 'released the tiger' in college athletics
Two key figures in the 1984 Supreme Court verdict, Chuck Neinas and Andrew Coats, reflect on how it "released the tiger" in college sports.www.on3.com
Love this country, despise with every ounce of blood in my body where it is headed thoughThey actually did their best to copy the size and talent of the players and, perhaps you dislike America and how it works, the courts agreed you can't do that.
Hail ‘Bill Walsh CFB,’ king of knockoff entertainment
The godfather of college football video games had no real names for anything, and that’s exactly how we liked it.www.bannersociety.com
You brought up the video game, not me. The truth is the schools were greedy and wanted big TV money.First you blame the game, then the schools. I guess anything to keep from admitting the truth, and pushing your agenda
And their less productive peers entering the free market (portal) and making a nice pay day.Going to waste my time explaining this only to have people complain anyways. Some of these upperclassmen see these freshman coming in and making stellar money via NIL. They want their fair compensation as well and honestly that’s somewhat understandable.
It’s like if you’ve been at a job for a while, you’re doing a great job and bc of it your company is successful. Well the new hire that you’re training makes more money than you do. Would you be a little salty about that? Same deal with these kids.
$$$’s Carp. More $$$’sWonder if he is testing the waters to what NIL deals are out there before making a decision to go pro? Seems weird given he was virtually guaranteed a starting spot here. He's probably a 3rd round pick at best this year. So maybe he was looking for 3rd round pick money to come back.
Don’t think they told Baron to walk and we shall see who we get. We lost a 5 star tackle to friggin Colorado and a blow hard coach. That’s the one that really hurt. Can you say Colorado??They had to make some room with all the COVID seniors coming back. They will only take 3-4 from the portal at most so they can keep that number at 82.
I'm not saying they told Baron to walk, but most of the folks that left were likely told they would be losing snaps
