Tyler Baron has entered the portal

What happened to loyalty?
It’s a lost cause for the majority of this generation of players.
Give me a Kirby Connell in whatever sport any day of the week over some kid who has been told their whole life that they are all that and can hold out for money and contracts, etc.
It’s sickening what college sports have become.
If Baron wants to enter the portal, Heupel should make him get his ass to stepping. No bowl game, no press conference, no “I’m gonna take my talents to…” blah blah blah.
He don’t appreciate what he has at UT and has already pulled this stunt twice, he can get gone. The team will be better off without that distraction.

So the SEC should've been loyal to CBS and not gotten about 5 times more money when ESPN offered it?
You’re really reaching. Comparing apples and oranges. Businesses have always negotiated. It’s part of business. This has not always been a business where kids can get rich and negotiate. One would think a 100K education was enough. I run a business. Corporate makes millions off if said businesses, mine included. I don’t feel entitled to more just bc they make X. That’s socialistic thinking. You might wanna try Cuba.

It's becoming more and more about the dollar. Makes me sick.
This ain't the college football I fell in love with at my first game at Neyland as a kid in 1967.
These days I usually have to just focus on that T on the side of the helmet and not the kid wearing it.

So he starts at UT, but wants to go someone and hope to play? Probably chasing a championship ring. If I were him, I'd strike while the iron is hot and go pro. He didn't have a great season in 2023, but I think his draft stock is somewhat still kind of high. If he goes somewhere and rides the pine, he may become an afterthought?

He is credited for 6 sacks and 16 tackles on the season. Not sure what games he got those in.

James Pearce is credited with 8.5 sacks and 24 tackles and a forced fumble on the season.

I guess this takes Baron out of the bowl game. The bowl game could be a chance for Baron to wow some NFL folks.....

Now besides all of his other responsibilities, a College HFC now has to basically also be a general manager and front office in Charge of bidding wars. I don’t know if there is a more demanding job in sports.
This time of year especially, when exactly does Heupel sleep?

Yes, your top priority now as a college coach is to re-recruit each player on your roster continuously and not just annually.......

I just think more and more as time moves on, you'll have coaches just taking the...you are either with us or against us approach....and that's not necessarily a winning approach either. So it sucks either way.

Players were not getting anything closer to what they are now.
Depends on where they go and who's paying them....

A particular state that sits below middle Tennessee, has paid big money or a long time....

There are literally pictures and evidence to prove this....

Best single thing to help Heup in recruiting is to keep placing players in the league. It seeing nearly as many getting drafted this year unfortunately

Long gone. I go back to '65. Nothing like the game today. It's all about getting paid, bags, backing up the truck, and seeing the players "get theirs". Now money's the focus instead of the school, jersey or game. As for "education", don't make me laugh. That's been a joke for decades. Just like Flood's case, the toothpaste is now out of the tube. Ain't goin' back in.

Honestly I got tired of watching Baron run his mouth and act like an idiot. He could have easily been ejected in Vandy game and probably should have. He's performed considerably better this year but this is a player that has been talked about behind the scenes on multiple occasions as not always being entirely bought in. See ya.

This is BS.

Michigan sent him packing right away because it was obvious he wasn’t the guy. When a Michigan QB is bad, they continue to start them. They cycle new guys in. They’re the #1 seed in the playoff.

At Tennessee, we let QBs overstay when they’re not good and then we lose games we shouldn’t, like Florida & Mizzou. It’s been this way for like 7 years.

This is mind blowing. I don't see any logic in this whatsoever from a developmental or financial standpoint.

At one time during my young like, I thought I might want to become a college coach. Today, there is no way I would become a college coach. My son is a High School coach and I hope he stays at that level.
