That doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't he just go pro?
To be quite honest, I just assumed he was already going pro, so this loss is fine. He wasn't going to be here next year regardless in my mind.

He also went into the portal last year just to come back, so I guess that possibility can't be ruled out.

That's college sports now. No loyalty expected or given from players or coaches. Absolute loyalty demanded from fans. You're supposed to open up your pockets and pay hundreds or thousands of dollars - or more - to people who will drop you at a moment's notice for a bigger bag.

Feels great, right? Feels awesome. "Vol For Life" -- yeah right. If the bag is big enough.

Yeah, no thanks. College football has reached the point of absurdity. Beyond tickets and the occasional Smokey Dog or Petro's in the stadium, no way am I inclined to funnel a penny to mercenaries.

Going to waste my time explaining this only to have people complain anyways. Some of these upperclassmen see these freshman coming in and making stellar money via NIL. They want their fair compensation as well and honestly that’s somewhat understandable.

It’s like if you’ve been at a job for a while, you’re doing a great job and bc of it your company is successful. Well the new hire that you’re training makes more money than you do. Would you be a little salty about that? Same deal with these kids.

You just gave away why you can’t just pay all of these HS recruits anything they want without having other roster issues.

But I know we will keep having the same ones on here say we need to pay the HS recruits whatever it takes to land them.

It's easy to spend someone else's money just to make one happy. If you're sad, send a sh*t pile of money to the UT collective. Problem solved
Do you have any idea how much the school makes off the football team. All I’m asking is they allocate money where it needs to be. I wish we could cut women’s basketball and buy a few linemen

😂 some of you are so FOS it’s pitiful. Go out there work your ass off on the practice field and weight room, watch guys that are brothers to you lose their careers bc of injuries, get the hell beat out of you week after week in games. Do all that then you can bitch about some of these kids wanting to get paid.

Kids just want fair market value for their talent and that’s what college football is now days. I know the kids are greedy right? It’s not like everyone other than them have been making millions in coaching and billions going to the programs as well. I’m sure they should just STFU, be “loyal”, and be happy about it. SMH.

I agree with you but this world don’t work that way.

Worse really. Atleast NFL there are contracts.
This is the next step. If you're going to pay them, there needs to be contracts. Saban said as much. This is like the All Pro balling out in his contract year to get a big payday. We needs coaches that will develop these players to All SEC status.
Think he gets a better deal from UT?

He could. But he wont be a high round draft pick. Later rounds dont make that much in their first contracts. Might make more at some other school.

Tennessee gonna be fine without Baron and Slaughter. Joshua Josephs gets more run and we get too see the young defensive backs more snaps. The news just sucks more then usual because the last 30 hrs have been nut punches

I don’t expect them to try to bring him back. JMO

Well actually us fans were figuring he would go PRO so either way he's gone. Just hope it's not to one of our opponents. He's really good and I appreciate what he did for the VOLS!! Best of luck.

I didn't call Tyler Baron greedy. I did say there's nothing left of loyalty. Because there's practically nothing left of it. The free agency and the payments have pulled most of it up by the roots. Which was always going to happen, I suspect, but now that we're here, that doesn't make it any less so.

And if "getting the hell beat out of you week after week" was so damn awful, then why did guys do it for the last hundred years?
