Tyler Bray: Brain vs Brawn

The most interesting part of that article to me is the sentence towards the end that says Dooley has been placing some of the blame for his poor record on Tyler Bray. The awkward dynamic between Bray and Dooley definitely hindered us.

Yep. Saw that as well, and as much as I criticized Bray-if that is true I hope Dooley never gets another HC job. Classless. The Cowboys deserve him. What a freaking phony.

Actually, what it shows is what I and people a whole lot smarter than me have said. Fans criticizing and badmouthing our players don't know their situation or circumstances. Th article justifies this claim yet again but those who lie in wait to ambush players at the slightest opportunity still won't learn anything.

The more I learn about DD as time passes the more I start to think he might be just as big a scumbag as his predecessor, CLK. He just might operate differently.
I don't care what conflict he may have had with Bray you don't trash the kid and/or blame him for losses. If the kid was that big a headache he could have run him off like so many other players he ran off.

I have said the same thing about Dooley. I think he did just as much, if not more damage to the program as Kiffin. If Bray was the problem then Dooley could have done something about it. I personally don't feel that Bray was the problem. True, he did some immature things like young adults will sometimes do, but think for a second at all that he might have accomplished with some real coaching. Well, for that matter if the entire team had received real coaching. Dooley will never own up to or take the blame for any of his failures. Ask yourself this, do you think Bray would have been more successful at UT with Kiffin coaching him than he was under Dooley? Before you bash Kiffin remember what he and his staff did with Crompton in one short season.

The title pretty much says it all.

Tyler Bray has to prove that his intangibles match his throwing prowess in the NFL - NFL - Don Banks - SI.com

For his sake I hope he goes to a franchise that knows what they are doing, with a coach known for QB development (KC with Andy Reid). If he goes somewhere like the Jets, well, things might not work out.

The four best fits for Tyler Bray would be Pittsburgh, San Diego, Green Bay or Dallas. He could sit behind a veteran and learn for several seasons. Also, with him not being an early round draft selection, there would not be alot of pressure for him to get on the field.

The worse place for him to go to would be Buffalo because he would likely have to play in his rookie season.... which would mean disaster....

Couldn't agree more. Bray could be a meathead at times.... it was Dooleys job to coach that out of him. Ask Ainge what a difference Cutcliffe did for him.... got his attention quickly and straightened his arse out.

Id like to see Bray land with the Steelers. Im not a Steelers fan, but I think a few years behind Big Ben could do magic for Bray. He knows its time to buckle down and get that money. I dont think we will see the same Bray if he gets a shot. I think a lot of that immaturity and poor preparing will be out the window.

DD is gone. Why can't folks like you let him stay gone?
Is it obsession? Latent fascination? Sympathetic Psychosomatic? Or a psychohistory chronological loop? Bray's gone too. May they both have future success and happiness.

So what we have here is an early entrant who is not really ready to play and needs to be hidden behind someone who really can play. Check.

Pittsburg as the destination to develop Bray's "intangibles". lol Yes, I think Ben Roethlisberger would be the perfect mentor to instill maturity and off-field decision making.

It may have something to do with the article this thread is discussing. Just guessing, though.

Dooley needs to keep telling himself that, and sooner or later he might even start believe it.

The only thing Dooley did at a Elite Level these past couple years is make Excuses. He finally pumped that Well dry and rightfully got his walking papers.

Now it turns out that Well had more water after all. Bray was the reason the 3 years Dooley coached my Vols was the worst 3 year span in TN history.

I am actually stunned. I always hoped but never believed Dooley would turn the program around. He was in over his head from the start.

So now he is starting to blame the players. Nice really Nice. Stay Classy Dooley.
