Tyler Bray: Brain vs Brawn

"There's a lot of refinement that needs to take place,'' Gruden said. "He's got to learn how to manage some situations better. He's got to deliver at crunch time. He's got to polish his game ... I think his preparation needs to increase so he can be all that he can be.''

Despite several opportunities last season, Bray never got it done late in games.

What??????????

When did I say Dooley was a good coach?

I said it like 3 times, he is a mediocre coach.

If you want to argue that Dooley isn't a mediocre coach. Then my advice is wiki the word "mediocre".

My bad. You did say mediocre. But I still disagree with your evidence that he was even mediocre. He won 41% of his games at UT, with a fair amount of NFL talent. I won't go thru all the horrible losses again, we all know what those were. Even a mediocre coach doesn't have 3 historically bad consecutive losing seasons at UT.

Or, and here's a thought to all the crazy people, what if Dooley said to NFL scouts "He's a freak athlete in terms of a pocket passer, but he's not very mentally tough and you can tell it cost us a few games in his tenure."

That's not throwing under the bus, but it's honest. But, if Dooley did that then you couldn't hate on him more, so everyone will pretend he just solely blamed everything on him instead of possibly giving a correct evaluation of him like most middle schoolers could.

Ultimately everything is the head coach's responsibility. I do agree Bray misses some very simple reads at times, but I don't think he is to blame for any losses. I also hope CDD is professional enough not to throw former players & coaches "under the bus!"

Well we will agree to disagree then.

Maybe that's because his damn coach let the friggin clock run out at the end of a tie game with two timeouts in his pocket.

Here are U.T.'s high powered offense's last 6 plays in regulation.

5:32 remaining

1st down: Neal 1 yard run
2nd down: Bray incompletion
3rd down: Bray incompletion
4th down: Palardy punt

:43 remaining

1st down: Bray incompletion
2nd down: Bray completion to Lane 0 yards

So, we run 5 plays( not counting punt), and gain a total of one yard running and Bray completes 1 of his last 4 passes for a total of zero yards. I can see why "his damn coach let the friggin clock run out at the end of a tie game." It wasn't like Bray and the offense was lighting it up in the 4th quarter.
