Presents quite a conundrum doesn't it. If one refuses to provide a burn permit simply because the man wants to burnt the flag, then they are essentially restricting the man's freedom and liberty; hence, they are, in actuality, doing more to disparage what the flag stands for then the man who is actually planning on burning it.

I don't agree with it but I don't really care if he does.

However, if someone punches him in the face, that's okay with me too.

Because just about everybody on here wants to believe it is about socio-economic status, I'm waiting for all the lower class patriots in this country to riot, kill, burn embassies, etc like Muslims did when this kind of nonsense happens to something they hold sacred.

Why is the Soldier on the far right wearing a tan beret? If he is a cadet or a part of the ROTC staff, he needs to take that off. Tan beret is worn by current members of the 75th; it is not worn by former members in different units (and, he certainly does not have the combat scroll, either).

You do know that violent acts against abortion practitioners spikes while Democratic President's are in office, right?

It is not exactly a stretch to show that poor, uneducated Christians who feel powerless will act out violently in order to self-legislate their morality upon others.

The spike and phenomenon is smaller in scope; however, the poverty level and quality of life does not even touch the kind of despair that is coupled with "real" poverty throughout the rest of the world.

I am seriously wondering why he is wearing a tan beret. He has an ROTC (Leadership and Excellence) patch on his left arm and a combat patch on his right arm that is most definitely not the scroll.

IMO, this is quite atrocious. Rangers (75th not simply Ranger Tabbed individuals) go through complete hell in order to attain the privilege that goes along with wearing the tan beret. That clown might as well just pin a Silver Star and Purple Heart to his chest...

I would never burn an American flag because I think that the insult it represents is not remotely worth the minimal value it has to expressing whatever outrage I might feel at the moment about something. I just don't think anyone goes, "Whoa, that guy is burning a flag? We better change our policy in Afghanistan, pronto."

If he wants to, then fine. Don't pay any attention. How hilarious would that be? Guy announces it and there's media coverage and then no one shows up. I'm very much against anyone doing it for the reason that it upsets people and is ineffective as sending a message. About anything.

I'm not talking about third world countries necessarily, that kind of misbehavior also happened in Europe.

I still don't buy the socio-economic status drives reactions to issues of morality/religious concern argument. It's a copout.

LSU canceled it, he showed up anyway, got pelted with water ballons and left in the back of a squad car with a group of 100+ people following him, chanting "USA" and "Geaux to hell hippie Geaux to hell"

Unlike a police uniform, there is no law (that I am aware of) which prevents his wearing it, meaning, isn't it exercising his personal freedom to wear it?

It's only a piece of cloth, really.

What if he shat in it? Would that be worse than wearing it?

actually there are laws against misrepresenting yourself as a soldier and I would think the military also has the same
