you mean with king?

When the tide turned and King's attentions turned to Cal, things also changed with Oregon, with rumors eminating from Eugene that King had his Ducks offer "pulled" and his supposed request for a "reinstatement."

"I found out that Oregon supposedly pulled my offer after I told them I wanted to go to Cal, but I really wasn't stressed about it because I'd already made up my mind and my heart about where I really wanted to go (Cal).

"I never asked for an offer back, either, and I never even talked to a coach after that.

"There was one last call, where Coach (Chip) Kelly talked to my girlfriend but he was kind of rude and fired up so I didn't feel a need to call back after that.

What was he an ass about? Honest question.

I don't remember the specifics, but something about Keenan possibly committing, but Chip pulled the offer for some reason because Keenan was taking too long to make a decision or something.

Heard it on an Oregon board.

There's no argument from me that Chip is pretty pushy and easily aggravated. I'm the same way, so that's why I don't really have much of a problem with it, although being rude to someone's girlfriend isn't right

Gabe probably didn't give him a straight answer and he was probably a little heated and aggravated over his lack of communication.

I'm not here to call Oregon's coach a saint, because he certainly isn't. I do completely buy into his coaching and preparation philosophy, though.

i'm sure gabe probably didn't outright tell him he preferred cal. but that's hardly rare for 18 year old recruits. probably more than norm than anything else. it's obvious he had a high regard for oregons staff. i imagine it would be hard to tell someone you've had a good relationship with that you are going elsewhere.

Yeah, and it probably aggravated Kelly because he probably heard rumors about him and Cal from secondary sources and he probably desired for Gabe to just be up front and honest with him instead of dragging things out and having other people tell him about it.

Oregon's offensive line was great last year until they played Ohio State and was annihilated.

should be interesting to see how they do against Cal and arizona's very good dlines. i would have added ucla too if it weren't for last sat.

Off games happen, and the fact that Ohio State has a dominant front 7 didn't help things.

They were very good; they made Oregon's entire offense look horrid. 2/11 on third downs; them's Tennessee numbers!

I wish the Ducks and Zona got to play in the desert again this year.

It didn't help that Ohio State had figured out Oregon's playcalling scheme from the sidelines - which was drastically changed/updated this offseason because it was cracked by the Buckeyes.

Any good O-Line can be made to look bad by a good D-Line if they know the calls being made..

seems like a rather dubious claim. i thought oregon got in the play and to the line in 15 seconds? are we really to believe that the ohio state defense not only read the play, but then figured out how to defend it that quickly? you give osu players WAY too much credit.

OSU had a month to prepare for the game, with nothing else waiting to prepare for after, if you think they didn't spend a significant amount of time learning to recognize the type of plays being called when the coaches recognized the play-calling scheme hadn't been changed all season, then you're not thinking very hard about this. I doubt CCK will ever let that happen again, count it as a true rookie mistake. Right now UO's practices are closed to the public (a rarity), and it's rumored amongst fans that the coaches might be changing the play-calling scheme this week for the 2nd-half of the season.

oregon runs a read option offense. people pretty much know what play they are running anyway. closing practices are truly stupid. trust me cal's done it for years and we still suck.

Absolutely untrue. There are different variations of this play, and we run many other things other than this.

yes and the different variations are made by the qb on the line. i still call complete bs on this being the reason the offense was shut down

uhh, you're talking to me like I don't know Oregon football.

If people pretty much know what play they are running anyway, then why does the TV camera miss-track the football 50% of the time?

And having closing practices was preordained for this bye-week only, which is the midpoint through a possible NC year. CCK isn't going to hold back his gameplan because Cal can't figure out how to have meaningful closed practices.

The offense isn't that complex. It's the rate at which plays are run that kills opposing teams.

Zone Read
Bubble Screen
Fake Bubble Screen go route

Tripple option here and there.

you do realize you can run the same play and still have multiple options right? you dont' seem to understand your offense that well.

i really fail to see how allowing reporters to attend practice would make kelly hold back his gameplan. last time i checked the register guard wasn't reporting formations or play calling.

Well, that's just because it's very hard to tell who gets the ball when the zone read is run.
