UCLA suspends 6 for oregon game

The offense isn't that complex. It's the rate at which plays are run that kills opposing teams.

Tripple option here and there.

It's not like we run 4 plays.

I think it's safe to say Oregon will win this game. -_-

not sure. 1) ucla has the front 7 talent to possibly give oregon problems (assuming woods and ayres aren't suspended), 2) slick rick tends to pull a couple of games out of his arse every year, 3) no way oregon is up for the game. i'd still put it 1/5 that ucla wins (since ucla just isn't very good), but i bet they cover.

Dude, UCLA has no shot, and that's coming from someone who tends to worry a lot about most games. Richard Brehaut running their offense at Autzen? In the words of Keyshawn, C'mon, Man.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see Oregon get taken down. But with the talent and speed they have I just don't see UCLA having a realistic shot.

ucla still has talent. i agree it's unlikely, but oregon hasn't faced guys upfront of moore and ayers talent. and i have no faith that oregon's d is a lock to stop any offense. they also have 10 days to prepare which is important for defending oregons unusual offense.

you do realize you can run the same play and still have multiple options right? you dont' seem to understand your offense that well.

i really fail to see how allowing reporters to attend practice would make kelly hold back his gameplan. last time i checked the register guard wasn't reporting formations or play calling.

I know, if you ever get a chance, watch the first drive of the 2nd half of Oregon at Tennessee, it shows exactly what Oregon does (even though we didn't score on that drive). Thing is, most of our plays start from the same basic formations, so you don't know what's going to happen because it all starts out looking the same. For example, depending on how the Back is lined-up, you either have a possible inside- or outside-zone run play, and the QB reading either a DT or DE, depending on the type of run. When the Back is behind the QB, it's an inside run, when he's to the side, it's an outside run. But now the Back is being motioned and misused for confusion. Add on top there are design pass plays where the back is a blocker as well from the same formations - you don't know if it's a run or a pass, so no, you generally don't know exactly what's coming.

Unless you know how to read the plays being signaled from the sidelines after studying them for a month.

For God's sake, Stanford's D pitched a shutout against UCLA, at the Rose Bowl no less.

stanford is a far more physical team than oregon defensively. they're problem is with teams with good team speed (which ucla does not have on offense). ucla matches up better with oregon's D.

I'd be willing to bet that UCLA gets no more than 250 yards of total offense.

Oregon was most certainly "in it" for Keenan Allen - and the whole gang actually - but Keenan's stepdad was not going to let him come to Eugene. And I'm a Duck fan *not* glad that we didn't end up with any of those players, so no sour grapes here.

Phil's money hasn't taken Oregon as far as it can go - not by a longshot. He's going to build a new ridiculous football ops building, and then he's going to expand Autzen - or perhaps in the reversed order. They're telling recruits about it right now. And if you think Basketball represents Phil's failure to make an impact by throwing money into the program, you're absolutely retarded. The arena is a palace, and combined with the existing facilities on this campus Oregon will be getting recruits. Oregon will be back in Pac 10 Basketball soon enough assuming Altman is a half-competent coach - and I believe we'll find out quickly that he is.

Oregon will *never* dominate California recruiting - but it doesn't need to. Oregon is in the unique position of being a school with a ridiculously well positioned "brand" nation-wide *without* historical relevance and storied tradition. We'll keep getting a few players here and there in CA, and we'll keep spreading the net wider bringing in kids from across the country who are enamored with the identity of this program, its coaches, the Eugene community, the facilities, and, yes, the uniforms.

it was between alabama and cal. this is pretty well documented. what do you mean "not glad"?

This has nothing to do with your post, but I want Oregon to flip George Farmer. USC has enough receivers.

Yes, between Bama and Cal if you ignore months and months of the recruiting saga, and only look at the time period that spans from your offer to Maynard, and signing day.

by this theory cal almost had virtually every top player in teh pac-10 since 2002. who gives a crap? why would a premier receiver go to oregon?

Why would a premier WR go to Cal? Desean Jackson, who regardless of where he went to school, would have been an NFL talent?

i see. so cal didn't use him in ways that got him noticed by the nfl? whens the last first day receiver oregon has had?

He wanted to catch balls from the immortal Kevin Riley. That's the only explanation.
