These types of games where uconn continually blows out top ranked teams can't really help ratings for wcbb much. I was hoping for a competitive matchup.

It is exceedingly odd to watch a game where foul trouble doesn't decide who is on the court for most of the game.

Wilson looks less athletic as this season has went on, or is it just UConn making her look less athletic?

Yeah, but with the press in their pocket they will never be portrayed as bullies and the sport will never be portrayed as needing to be more competitive. All there will be is adoring talk of a dynasty.

No one in the press will ever say anything about how Geno winning so much is bad for the game. But it is.

How many backdoor cuts do they get a game? About the same number as we get in a year.

I hope USC makes as many stupid passes against us as they did against UCONN.

We really need to get a 1 seed unless we're going to be in Baylor's bracket as a 2 seed.

I do not want to be the 1 seed in Greensboro if they are sending the 1-4 seeds to the regionals closest to home. Way too many good teams near Greensboro would likely result in the top 2, 3 and 4 seeds ending up in your region.

I'd prefer to go out west

I agree with the grind-it-out comment, which is why I'm predicting USC 64 UCONN 61. If Cuevas plays point more, though, the Gamecocks could score a lot more. She's been playing very well in the last few games and a New Yorker will not be intimidated by the environment.

:good!:

He certainly is a great coach but when has he had very little talent? Not since we first played them '95. Nykeshia Sales, Kara Wolters, Sue Bird, Tamika Williams, Swin Cash, Asjia Jones....and that Russian player whose name escapes me - all top ten players signed in the '90s by Geno.

In his first five years. The huskies were not very talented early on--but their offensive execution was noticeably better. They have been a good passing team since he started there--a glaring difference between UConn and UT. Did we not play UConn before 1995? I think we played them a few times earlier that that.

...but you said 15 years ago and that he gave us problems even when he had very little talent. We didn't play them until '95 and he was recruiting at an elite level by then. Incidentally, we would have played them in '89 if they had beaten LaSalle in the 1st round but they lost 72-63. The Lady Vols beat LaSalle 91-61 and won the championship. I think that was Pat's best team. It's a shame our rivalry couldn't have started then. The Lady Vols record would be one game better against them.

every time we play them. UConn does the same--and, yet, as you say we rarely get them. It's our offense, which apparently is not designed to create layups!

South Carolina plays a bit like us--a couple of passes and somebody tries to score. They have got some athletes but think we can beat them.

I think you have to play zone against UConn and ND and try to match up to their 3-point shooters. They kill man defenses.

South Carolina is over-rated for sure. Notre Dame, Louisville, and Baylor are probably better than South Carolina.

The game went about as I expected except UCONN didn't need the refs to help out. There were a ton of no calls both ways. Hats off to UCONN. They deserved that one. Great all around team effort.

Just think Holly would play UConn and embarrass our team

Does the fault lie with UConn or with all the other programs who refuse to step up to where the bar has now been set?

It's not anyone's fault. It's just a reality that women's basketball is not what matters to athletic depts. If it was then UConn would not have been passed over by the ACC for Louisville, Syracuse and Pittsburgh and by the Big Ten for Rutgers and Maryland.

The biggest surprise in the game was UConn playing man-to-man defense the entire game against South Carolina's bigs. UConn gave up a lot of height and still dominated on the defensive end. Most teams play zone against South Carolina.
