Im not mad because UT lost. Im mad if UT loses due to CHEATING. Talk about discipline, This is the second time that FAT AZZ DT was caught with MARIJUANA and he gets a slap on the wrist suspension...WTF a SECOND OFFENSE should be a PLANE ticket home. College Football is becoming a HUGE JOKE...Nothing but a BUNCH OF CHEATERS (BAMA NOW USC)...This is the most SHADY sport ever....Just imagine what has gone on in the NCAAF that has not and never will be revealed of as CHEATING.
UF's policy on this is exactly the same at UT's policy. The 1st offense gets you a suspension (at least 1 game). The 2nd offense gets you an indefinite suspension, and the 3rd offense gets you dismissed.
NCAA has nothing to look into - it's a violation of a university policy - not NCAA rules. No cheating involved.
It's amazing to me that folks would come across as this self-righteous when their own school has recently had similar issues with an athlete. People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
I believe that it's a long shot that the claim being made by Marcus Thomas, that the positive in the 2nd test were the results of the same ingestion as the 1st. But until that gets cleared up, he's not guilty of the 2nd offense.
If he is, he misses a bunch of the most critical games UF has. The truth be told, I'd rather he had missed the first 5 games, including the game against UT, than to miss the coming 5 game stretch, which includes LSU, Auburn, and UGA, all of whom I believe pose a bigger challenge to UF's D-line than UT did.
But the tragedy for Thomas, as it was for Wingate, is that these guys have a problem that they can't seem to overcome. It's a problem that will cost them a LOT of money, as it hurts their draft status in their respective sports.
Many expected Marcus Thomas to be in the NFL this year - he could have but opted to come back to improve his draft status. You would think with that sort of committment that he'd be able to stay clean. The fact that he couldn't tells me that he's got a problem that he needs professional help with, a problem with ramifications that go far beyond the loss of his skills to the team and letting his family down.
