But what if the scenario plays out and Chip Kelly get's a call and shows interest in Florida?

I'm not so sure the league fits his style anyway.

I still think it will be someone not even being talked about right now. My bet was mcelwain but then read that he has a huge buyout, so not him. It will be someone along those lines.

I really don't think Mullen wants to go to Florida, he'll leave state but I think it'll be for a Michigan or a NFL job. Rich Rod is the more likely candidate but all signs point to him being happy in Arizona. Florida just might be one of those jobs some guys look at and say "I don't want the stress".

Mullen wasn't going to get a call or feeler. Foley and boosters hate the guy.

Rich Rod has previous academic and recruiting issues with NCAA. Reported secondary violations this past summer.

You have to take anything a coach says with a grain of salt remember Saban wasn't remotely interested in being bama's coach til he was interested in being bama's coach.

I would say that it would take 5-6 million per season to get a Pete Carroll, Chip Kelly, Brian Kelly, Jim Harbaugh type coach at a minimum imo

Its gonna be kiffin, write it down. I know he's a dweeb, and has failed everywhere as a HC, but I swear I'm not gonna be surprised.

Highly doubtful anyone other than a directional program takes a chance on Kiffin as the HBC. He's failed at his lone NFL gig, left his 1st college program in a mess after a 1 year tenure and was fired from his 2nd college HBC position after sub par performances, one after the other.

He's a good fit as a coordinator and IMO, still needs time learning and developing the proper skill set of what it takes to be a HBC at a prominent university.

Butch has followed in the shoes of Brain Kelly twice. Even if offered, Butch be remembered for walking into Kelly's successes. Butch cares about legacy so noway he goes to ND.

Some of their boosters might hold the door open for him

Only the ignorant ones.

They have the best of both worlds there. Strong can recruit Texas and South Florida. Good grief, Texas could become the dominate team for years to come if they'd leave him alone.

I DON'T want Charlie Strong at UF.

Would Charlie Strong pull a Kiffin and bolt from Texas after one season?

Not likely, but James Franklin would one and done Penn State faster than you could say Anchor Down. Not saying they are considering him, but it would be funny to see a good mattress fire in Happy Valley.

As much as it pains me to say it, Coach Cut would make a lot of sense. He is an accomplished coach with a successful SEC resume. He is renown for his ability to develop QBs (something FL fans are used to and have been missing for at least 4 yrs). His former OC is already there. If they do, they'll likely hire a big name DC as well. Chavis perhaps? I think he just extended his contract w LSU though.

I hadn't thought about him, but good idea.

I can't see Foley taking a serious look at Franklin.

It may only be year 1 with him in Happy Valley, but his team has looked uninspired and lost at times this season. In addition, a blowout loss to Northwestern, beaten by a sub-par Michigan team, a loss to Ohio St and then a loss to Maryland.

Foley needs to look elsewhere.

I thought Penn State was Franklin's "dream job", IE he had ties there and that was where he wanted to end up? Don't get me wrong money talks, but I thought he pursued that job even with all the baggage there that is about to lift off of the program.

So you're saying Rich rod would fit right in in Gainsville? j/k j/k

I just meant of those two candidates he's clearly the more likely one to leave his current job for UF. If I'm UF I'm looking at that ECU coach (can't remember his name), Mike Gundy or Gary Anderson.

He would be a fitting hire. He would be perfect for fla. Over rated coach that has personality issues.

Yeah how about we be scared about UF hiring a great coach? I mean CBJ should be shaking in his boots at who UF may or may not get. Oh noes UF may get a great coach. People need to just stop. Is this what our fan base has come to? Fearing a coach?? Good grief. I hope UF gets a great coach. That way when we start beating them again, it will be that much sweeter.

Gary Andersen scares me. He is probably one of the few coaches who could out coach butch.
