I don't get "solid" in general. I feel like it should mean okay, average. But people use it for everything

Bob Stoops isn't coming to Florida, it will be someone that no one is talking about at the moment because it generally ends that way in just about every search

Many people look at Stoops as an elite rock star type coach that will come at a premium. My point was Florida should just hire a solid coach that doesn't demand a ridiculous salary. There are only a few truly elite coaches that deserve crazy money and Stoops doesn't qualify imo.

Just read in USA today that Chip Kelly may be coming to Florida. Won't that be special... we have to play OregonEast every year..:banghead2:

I'll be shocked if Chip Kelly leaves the Eagles for any of the college openings. He's just trying to get more $ out of the Eagles. He's not actually going anywhere IMO.

Are you sure about that? It is not common practice for coaches to express an interest publicly in other jobs that are not currently vacant especially in the middle of the season.

Not to mention that Philly has a decent shot at the Super Bowl...at the very least they will be in the playoffs. I don't see it.

I tried to post a new thread earlier and I don't think it went well. The USA today article said it was CHIP Kelly saying he was going to Florida....

If UT had coach who won eight conference titles and a national title in a 16 year span, would you consider that coach to be elite?

Of course, Bob Stoops is one of the best coaches of his era. His bowl record of 8-7 is the only negative. His teams have played for the National Championship 4 times. He is the ideal choice for Florida but it would be unprecedented for a coach of 16 seasons to leave behind that type of legacy to start over somewhere else. It just doesn't happen in college football. The closest thing I can think of in college basketball would be Roy Williams leaving Kansas for North Carolina but that was his home and alma mater. Stoops only ties to Florida are his 3 seasons there as DC. It's not like he would be returning home.

I don't disagree with anything you said.

I just question the sanity of anyone disputing whether Bob Stoops is an elite CFB coach qualified to make "crazy money".

Four of our last five football coaches have winning records against UT, and the absolute worst of those five coaches never lost to you guys.

Whoever we hire will be an upgrade over Muschamp.
