UF LSU game rescheduled to Nov. 19

"The SEC Commissioner's Regulations requires each football team play all eight conference games in a season in order to be eligible to compete for a divisional title and play in the SEC Championship Game. Had the game not been rescheduled, Florida and LSU would have been ineligible to compete for the SEC title this season."

I was not previously aware of this rule. So, even if this game had not been rescheduled, FL would have been unable to get over on us assuming we would have wound up with 2 conference losses (out of 8 games) and FL only 1 conference loss (out of 7 games) by the end of the season.

This is the right compromise under the circumstances. It would've been unfair to LSU and Baton Rouge to play it in Gainsville. LSU playing in Gainsville next two years is a fair trade. Good compromise. Foley pissed because Alleva stood up to him.

florida got hosed on this deal--they lose a home game and have to play on the road against lsu two years in a row!!!

They deserved to get hosed. Also, they will play at Gainesville in 2017 and 2018, then they'll resume normal rotation, FWIW.

Why the F didn't they clarify that rule before today?

It was a win/win situation for Vol fans. I wanted the game to be played but would've loved to see UForfeit be ruled ineligible for the SECCG.

Doesn't matter. We're gonna win it outright anyway.

Karma's a *****. I despise Florida and their fans and I hope they become the cellar dweller they once were and have earned the right to be.

That isn't the literal text. I have the rules downloaded to my computer. I would guess that was the hammer brought to bear to force this. And one could easily argue that is the intent of the rules too.

Really a best case scenario for Tennessee. Del Rio will be healthy then, but that is offset by the fact that Fournette will prob be healthy and the game is in BR.

Good call Hyams on the game not being made up.

I've been trying to find an article about Jeremy Foley's comments regarding LSU not being a Cooperative partner in rescheduling. I heard it first mentioned on find Bob, haven't been able to track down an article. Does anyone know what they are referring to?

Why are they playing in Baton Rouge?

Because it keeps LSU from having three straight road games to close the season.

More importantly! This is not the best thing for Tennessee! There is a bylaw stating that teams must complete conference scheduling to be eligible for divisional championship. How was this never reported?!?!?!

The SEC notes that this year's Nov. 19 game at Baton Rouge will start no later than 3:30 p.m. ET. In addition, the league wrote that "the SEC Commissioner’s Regulations requires each football team play all eight Conference games in a season in order to be eligible to compete for a divisional title and play in the SEC Championship Game. Had the game not been rescheduled, Florida and LSU would have been ineligible to compete for the SEC title this season."

A lot of drama over a rule...
