UF LSU game rescheduled to Nov. 19

Because it keeps LSU from having three straight road games to close the season.

More importantly! This is not the best thing for Tennessee! There is a bylaw stating that teams must complete conference scheduling to be eligible for divisional championship. How was this never reported?!?!?!

Because there isn't a bylaw that says that. People inferred from the by law which lists that each member will play an 8 game conference schedule. Thus isn't the same as saying a team that doesn't play 8 is ineligible.

The SEC notes that this year's Nov. 19 game at Baton Rouge will start no later than 3:30 p.m. ET. In addition, the league wrote that "the SEC Commissioner’s Regulations requires each football team play all eight Conference games in a season in order to be eligible to compete for a divisional title and play in the SEC Championship Game. Had the game not been rescheduled, Florida and LSU would have been ineligible to compete for the SEC title this season."

A lot of drama over a rule...

Makes me wonder if LSU threatened to sue once the SEC made that decision.

I've been trying to find an article about Jeremy Foley's comments regarding LSU not being a Cooperative partner in rescheduling. I heard it first mentioned on find Bob, haven't been able to track down an article. Does anyone know what they are referring to?

LSU didn't want to give up their home game on 11/19. Seems reasonable to give them the Florida game at home so that their fans get to see all the home games that were planned. Big upgrade on the opponent over S Alabama or Presbyterian... whichever sacrificial lamb they originally had scheduled.

I bet there will be an amendment written into the bylaws before next season to prevent another **** move like this by Foley.

No Florida choose to cancel the game instead of playing it at home on Sunday or Monday . serves them right

In fairness, all of the offers made by LSU to play those days were to play them in Baton Rouge. Playing Gainesville on Monday was never considered. Had it been, I think the game would have already been played I'm guessing

Nope, there is more margin for error now, for Tennessee. Although, we better not slip up in one of those last 5 games.

I would wager that all other East teams, including Florida and Georgia, end up with at least 3 losses. I still hope Vols go 10-2 at worst, but 9-3 would likely still get us to Atlanta IMO.

Imagine this scenario. TENN wins out and finishes with one loss. Ala loses only to TENN. Florida doesn't play LSU and wins SEC East with better % than UT. Ala or Fl wins the SECcg. In this scenario TENN doesn't have to play the extra game, has beaten either champ, and finishes with an 11-1 record, the same as Ala or Fl. UT should make the playoffs without the extra game.
And if Fl does lose another conference game, not playing LSU will not matter to the VOLS. They're in ATL

If we play one more game than Fla and both have only one loss we go to Seccg. What are you smoking? I want some.

With one loss - Tennessee would own the tiebreaker

Also, with more wins and one loss Tennessee would have a higher percentage

The ESPN article states that if Florida didn't play the game then they weren't eligible for Atlanta

If true, we never wanted them to play the game in the first place

Read the SEC bylaws, it clearly states win percentage based on 8 game conference schedule, so by rule even if we lose to Bama and then win out assuming they didn't reschedule that game we still win east

It's not inference, it reads shall which is an imperative. Do i need to define that for you?

The not entirely unlikely scenario we were hoping to avoid was if we weren't able to beat Bama and ended up with 2 conference losses to their 1. Tiebreaker doesn't help unless there is a tie.
