Hey....Look around the country and see the crap going on at Universities everywhere. It's not just UF, UT, LSU, ect....Look at San Diego St the other day.

This is what young people today do. Not all, but an alarming amount think this stuff is okay! That is real sad. Universities should, they will not, take a stand on behavior issues. Act like a champion, look like a champion, work like a champion!

I hope they throw the book at this kid! I coach a college team, and I will Not tolerate ANY conduct that puts a negitive light on our program!

I am almost speechless...Seriously...I have seen players do some stupid things in my life but this one has got to be in the top 3 worse I have ever seen...What kind of human being would do something like that?...If Meyer doesn't kick him off the team and I mean right this very moment then HE needs to be fired...This is unforgiveable...That poor girls parents

He can't just assume its true. I mean, I have to think it almost certainly is. They probably have video of him using it, etc. And its not like he could possibly have been mistaken about what he was doing. Meyer has to wait for it to become "official," but there's no way he will let him play or participate while it goes on and I'm sure he'll be kicked off the team at the earliest moment that due process allows.

WTF was he thinking.... oh he wasnt.... what an ahole

That's the thing. If he had made an actual mistake, then you can forgive. But this had to be intentional and under the circumstances it is reprehensible. I wonder how he got ahold of it in the first place?

Says in the story that he used it 70 times, all starting on the day after the accident that killed the girl and the UF player. That is just so embarrassing to the university I can't stand it.

Wow! That's unreal, no matter what the circumstances it wasn't going to ever be a forgiveable offense but 70 times! And the day after your teammate just died.

Assuming there is not some explanation for this that I haven't thought of -- and I cannot possibly imagine one -- then he has to go. If Meyer does not boot him off the team and the school expel him, I'd be stunned.

They won't do it instantaneously, I'm sure. Wait for the case to be dealt with, that sort of thing. But if that kid did this and plays a down for UF, then I'll be very unhappy.

My bet is you are going to be very unhappy.

LAW was this guy a starter?

No, but last year as a true freshman he played some. Hurts to lose anyone on this porous Swiss Cheese defense of ours, but too frickin' bad. The more I think about this, the worse it is.

I would be shocked if he were allowed to stay on the team after something like this. The guy is lucky if he doesn't get prosecuted by the feds. He's got to be gone and I have to think that Meyer, who I'll admit has been a bit too lenient on occassion for my tastes, will see that.

There is no way they will want the bad pub this guy brings on the team now. This is probably one of the worst situations I have ever heard of in college football. No way he stays on the team.

Maybe the powerful folks in the Gator nation can exert their influence on British Petroleum to get the felony charges levelled against Jamar Hornsby dropped. After all, it worked last year on the owner of the Gainesville, FL impound lot after he pressed charges against Tony Joiner.

According to the 2007 stats listed on gatorzone.com, Hornsby played in 8 games with 2 solo tackles and three assists. He's one of four safeties listed on UF's 2008 roster with Major Wright being one of the remaining three. Suffice to say that since he would have shared playing time this season that he is expendable and will be severely punished by being held out of the 1st quarter of the Hawaii game.

I have a feeling the other players for UF would "take care of business" if he is left on the team. He should be gone for his own protection because somebody will "get" him. Next to child molestation/abuse, this is the worse I can imagine. More pain for that family. How sad.

I'm befuddled as to how the card was allowed to stay active for 6 mos. Too bad for him. Like someone else mentioned, it's obviously not a case of "oops, I made a mistake" when it goes on for so long.

Disgusting. As a Gator fan, there is no place for this on our team. I cannot see any reasonable defense to this -- he had to know what he was doing.

I want him off the team and pronto.

Lawgator,
I am a UT grad but am married to a UF grad and have 1 kid who graduated from UF and one in UF. That being said, I love UT and I like the Gators. You seem to be a reasonable person with rational, well thought out answers. What will your opinion be of Urban Meyer if there is a token punishment such as 2-3 games?
thanks

Read the story again. The fact that he started using the card THE DAY AFTER is borderline evil. This is the most disgusting story I have read about in college football for a while.

Yeah that's confusing how it was left activated for so long.
