UF recruiting Woes

its all about relationships for alot of these kids they like muschamp and trob i know it might seem like going up against him should be easy since he sucked as a head coach but auburn is more relevant then fla right now and he's a proven DC i think most expect he'll be good at auburn so its not like that going up againt him and having to wait on the three 5 stars nsd decisions was probably hell they were the make or break guys and mac won that battle getting 2/3

i can understand that. let me ask my question a different way, if Muschamp had stayed, but still on hot seat, is your class better or worse?

We get Cowart, but our team is worse because Muschamp is still our coach.

If Cowart is collateral damage for ridding ourselves of that ape, then so be it.

worse.

he could have convinced great/good defensive prospects to come to Florida.

we wouldn't have signed an offensive player worth a damn and that's a fact.

i don't know how many of the offensive guys we signed would have even picked up the phone for Muschamp. He would have done what we always had. He would have gotten one or two guys (like Ivey) and the rest would have been turds.

Dude, mix in a comma.

Overrated, and, often, misplaced,.

If muschamp stayed they would've signed the big three plus the rb's they have committed. probably would've signed St Louis also. Muschamp's issue was recruiting offensive playmakers and implementing a competent offense.

FL is competing with FSU now again for top talent along with AL, LSU, and Auburn--none of which (other than FSU) were very good during Spurrier's run and most of Meyers run.

I am not counting FL out, that would foolish, but FSU being up really hurts them. There are so many good teams near them now with a lot of hype.

Oddly, now that TN continues to grow more and more top talent within the state it appears recruiting for us may become easier in the next few years than it will be for Florida. Something that has never been the case.

it wouldn't say easier than it is for Florida. it will be easier compared to what it has been. if we miss out on one 5* from TN we lost out on 1/2. if florida misses out on one 5* from FL its like 1/8 (not sure on exact numbers) and 4* it gets even worse. so it may be getting better for us but not better for us over florida.

Did this past recruiting cycle not teach you anything?

Florida was in a dumpster fire scenario with barely any commitments, pitiful performance on the field, it's top recruiters being hired by an SEC school, and a new coaching staff hired just before the dead period.

And even with all that, Florida landed a fairly respectable recruiting class which was put together in about a month.

Recruiting and having players at Florida will not be a problem as long as the state puts out that many athletes.

Again that remains to be seen. And that's not a troll statement or a barb, but a realistic "wait and see before popping champagne" comment on the state of affairs with your new coach and staff.

We can revisit this statement on NSD 2016 and see where Florida lies in the class standings. Until that time it's a theoretical exercise to predict how well you guys can recruit.

not really zook, meyer, muschamp all got top 5 classes their first yr sure its not written in stone but id bet we'll be in the top 10 for sure

these kids can still remember us winning titles the top 3 in the state last yr were all gator fans that hardly even considered fsu now i know that will go the same way for fsu too

but the point is theres too much talent and fsu's depth chart is getting too crowded lets see how they do now that jamies is gone hopefully they take a loss to clemson

honestly its not out of the realm of possibibilty that we could beat them next yr imo
