UFC Thread

I have no idea what makes me like fighters...my favorites are all different personalities, styles, talent-levels...it's weird. Fedor, Bones, Liddel, Nate Diaz, Chiesa, McGee, Rampage, M Hughes (though he's faded over time for me), etc.

There is no rhyme or reason to that list.

I just like to be entertained. I think all the guys you named are entertaining fighters. I always try to find upcoming guys and follow their careers. I was a huge Bones when he first started. Pettis, AG, Guillard, Liam McGeary, and Gegard are my 5 favorites right now. Larkin was in my top 5 but he has been a huge disappointment since he moved to UFC.

Yeah, he had a real good fight against Benson Henderson, and IIRC slipped up in 5th round and got choked, but he might have even been winning on the scorecard before the choke. I vaguely recall.

From what I remember he was winning. I like him too, he's fun to watch.

That was about as good as any fight last season, and that was the #3 vs #14. Girls rule.

Also, your thoughts on the 2 round format? #3 won the first round convincingly but not in any dominant fashion. #14 comletely dominated the 2nd round, and #3 had to be saved by the bell.

Why is that a tie? I know it's one round to one round, but that is less of an even fight than #3 barely winning both rounds.

I give to the girls, they bring it guys tend to play it safe sometimes. Girls just go all out.

10-9 round for both I'm sure, 10-8's usually have to be bell to bell beatdowns or have a point deduction.

Again I love the new bracket seeding, I think it's a nice shot in the arm to the show.

Hopefully it eliminates those lame fights you see from time to time where a grappler is strategically matched against a guy with no takedown defense, and the result is completely one-sided. Or they go after a guy who is injured, or just fought (fighting last in 1st round and first in 2nd round).

They know when they're gonna fight, and so they can get their nutrition right, too.

Agree 100%

Seriously, Dana needs to get Liam McGeary in the UFC ASAP, that sub tonight was slick. He's 9-0 with 9 finishes, 7 in the first round 5KOs 4 subs. 6'6 205 81 inch reach. He's a bad dude.

Does anybody know where you can look at purses? I remember at one time Couture and Liddel were getting way more than anybody with $750K per fight....I'm wondering what the top guys command today.

Most athletic commissions release the fighters pay with bonus money after the event. If you mean you want to know how much they make total with pay per view points and locker room bonuses, then no, there is no way to find out that I know of.

These chicks are bringing it man. The one position was a little awkward, but otherwise a really good fight. I like the Calderwood chick. I want to see the Rose chick fight, I have a feeling she is going to do well. Felice Herrig is annoying.

This says Bones gets $400K per fight. That's a little more than half what Liddel made almost a decade ago.

Dana pays guys he likes more, hence Chucks pay. AG isn't even in the top 10 yet he's the only guy to really challenge Bones and arguably the best LHW . Gegard being 6th and Chael being 10th is a joke, but Dana loves both guys.
