I just watched Dana's press conference where he announced it. He said they offered to make Francis the highest paid heavyweight ever but he turned it down. Also said Jon would have faced any heavyweight but they kept trying to make Jon vs Francis for months and couldn't make it work.

Wonder why? Highest paid ever and turns it down? Is ufc pay that bad compared to pfl or wherever Francis might end up

He may try to box Fury, wasn't that the rumor after his last fight? Dana kept saying he's probably going to take lesser fights for more money. He said whatever Francis decides to do i wish him well and no hard feelings.

This is probably a case of both sides are being honest and I can't say I blame Francis. That dude stands to make a boat load of money. Probably way more than the UFC would offer. And he doesn't have to prove anything to me. That dude is violent. Overeem is still asleep. Lol

I won't speak to much about Dana but this could be the start of problems for the UFC. Losing Francis, Nate, and possibly McGregor all in a year or year and a half has to suck. Speculation on my part but I think Connor is done with the UFC. Still a big deal/draw but Connor does not scare anyone at 55 or 170.

Bones was ready to fight anybody at HW. Gane's the guy. I've seen a few clips from the docuseries triple C is producing and Bones looks like he's walking around at 240 at least. Probably 250

I don't want to slight Jones but let's squash this nonsense that Francis is "looking to take less damage" This dude has cleaned the heavyweight division. And more than a few of them were insanely violent stoppages. Remember the Overeem and Stipe fights? Those two guys may still be asleep. Then they give him Gane, who's a former training partner and very well rounded fighter. Francis on a blown out knee took him down at will. I hate we may never see Francis in the UFC. But Dana's spin on that is a cheap shot to Francis on the way out. Nothing more.

Last I saw Bones was in Arizona early last year. He looked every bit of 240-250. Let’s just say he “looked” bigger than Stipe looked when Stipe last fought Francis.

I know it will sell. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying the quality of the fighters at this juncture is undercard worthy. It's 2 guys trying to get their careers back on track
