UGA continuously makes me chuckle

I can't believe how this "Dawg 4 life" gets everybody so excited all the time. Half of you guys probably wait around just to see what he responds. If UGA is so bad then I don't understand how there's always an average of 3 threads a month to take shots at UGA. I can't remember of the phrase from psychology class that describes that kind of behavior.

Haters gonna hate.

Oh man, now my feelings are hurt.

One good year and suddenly the Chickens come out to talk smack.

That's the beauty of college football and its also what makes the fans so unique.

Viva College Football.

Wasn't my intention to hurt your feelings. But yes...do love me some college football.

What is the graduation rate of UGA? Just wondering since it is a huge party school?

The kids work hard and play hard. All SEC schools are huge party schools. At least I hope they are. All I can say is that the admittance standards at UGA are among the best in the SEC. I would think that the graduation rate would reflect the same.

Say what you want about the football for the past couple of seasons. But UGA is a very, very good school academically. You don't want to go there with comparisons.

I love these butt sniffers who think UGA is the Harvard of the South. I am sorry but UGA isnt Vandy, it isnt Georgia Tech, it isnt Emory, it isnt even close to UVA or UNC or Duke. Its freaking University of Georgia, which is about the same as any other public university in the south like UT, Clemson, USCjr, FSU, Auburn, Bama, Florida

Goes back to the old saying down here"What does a uga grad call a GT grad? Boss". Sec schools except for Vandy are good but are not really top notch academic schools like GT,Princeton, or MIT. Some of the smartest business owners I've seen down here graduated at GT, Ga state, Ga Southern, and even Mercer and West Georgia. Every school has there good programs and bad.

Hey, hey, hey, settle down Skippy! Why so defensive?!?!?! No one said that UGA was the "Harvard of the South". Someone took a poke at UGA, indicating that it was just a party school, and that's simply not true. This list of public schools from US News and World report might be helpful in answering that (you'll be happy to know that UT was 47th):

Oh my God we get it. UGA is a hell of a school. Based on your imperical data, that's where we all should've went and hope to send our children one day. Thanks for showing us simple hill-folk the light.

Maybe you "should've went" to UGA. But the reasoning is not my "empirical" data. That data belongs to US News and World Report. Also, you need to remember that UGA has very high acceptance standards. So your kids.........................

I really hope you aren't/weren't about to make a joke about someone else's children.

See, that's what I'm talking about. If I went to UGA, I probably would've remembered the whole pesky little participle thing. Then, I too could be a grammar troll on a rival's board. Point is, UGA is a good school, so is UT. Yes UGA has a better overall academic ranking, it's still not a premier academic school worthy of coming to our board and extolling its virtues upon us. Even the Vandy fans don't do that.

My apology. I know this is a UT board and I'm a guest here. But you Vols need to remember one thing also, in order to be classy hosts. If someone from another is on a thread, if you bash said school, you might get a reaction. I like to talk football. And I'll NEVER bash UT unless someone bashes UGA first. That's a promise. And, if you saw all of my posts here, you'd see that. I originally came here to congratulate UT on your recruiting class. Then some pinhead said that UGA had a great class, too bad we didn't have a coach. So I'm supposed to take that without a word?!?! Won't happen. Just as it wouldn't if I said something negative about Dooley. I even remember a time when you all would defend Lame Kitten to the nth degree!

Don't insult my school when I'm on the thread and we can talk football without all of the childish dribble.

With the Hope Scholly program being cut dramatically, will the admission standards not come down as a result?
The Hope is the ONLY reason that UGA has been able to pick and choose the best GA HS seniors.

I'm sure it will a little.

I have to respectfully disagree. The Hope is not the "only" reason that UGA has the academic reputation that it currently has. I think the number one reason for UGA's success has been the growth of the city of Atlanta. I know kids who's parents have transferred to Atlanta from all over the world, who have ended up at UGA. I have several friends and neighbors who attended schools like Ohio St., Vandy, UCLA, Michigan, Texas, even Yale, who've sent their kids to UGA. I think this more than anything has driven up the academic quality of the university.

Mike Adams has been very instrumental in recruiting high quality professors, and bringing external funding to UGA. The growth of UGA under Dr. Adams' leadership has been unsurpassed in the entire history of America's oldest public university.

The Hope has kept a few kids in state that otherwise would have gone elsewhere. But, when you consider the cost of out-of-state tuition, this isn't that much of a factor.

Another point to consider is that only the students with a 3.8 HS GPA/3.5 CollegeGPA or less, will be impacted by the HOPE changes. This will probably make UGA even more competitive academically.
