UGA is vulnerable

D looked bad last night, let ky move the ball. Offense? Oline needs to get better, 53/74, both need to step up, and quit playing stupid. Oline coach needs to develope some talent, quit relying on transfers. WR had to many drop, 11 looks good when given the chance.
but uga sucked in the 1 st half too, gotta get to the qb early and often

Unfortunately, so are the Vols.

Nico looked much better than Beck today. But, Vols receivers had their worst game in years. To beat UGA in Athens, Nico and the receivers have to have great games. Hopefully, the Dawgs get all they can handle in Oxford next week (Ole Miss will be playing for their playoff life). UGA could come into the Vols game worn out physically and mentally after those consecutive tough games. If UGA were to lose to Ole Miss, the Vols game would be a potential elimination game for them. This new playoff system makes the season really suspenseful.
I think it would be very beneficial for the VOLS if Georgia beats Ole Miss. Don’t want to go into Athens with their prior week going the other way around.

We have the number 1 defense against the run in the country. Why are you concerned. First play of the game was a 50 yard run. They had 116 yards rushing the rest of the game. And I'm pretty sure we've only allowed 75 yards rushing per game
Cause it was ky, puppies have way more talent , coaching, and in athens

I don't think we'll have much trouble getting ready to play UGA. At this point, I'm more worried about Vandy. If you think they played well against Alabama and Texas, we'll get their best shot.

If we can put it all together we roll the dawgs. We definitely have the talent, we have the coaching. But we cannot go down to Georgia and barely score in the first half.
Sums it up.

Frustrating lack of execution. We could legitimately be the best team in SEC

This team is so close to being great but to win in Athens we have to start capitalizing we can’t have Nico missing TD’s and receivers dropping TD’s. I felt like last night we should have scored 3 TD’s in the first half and we just shot ourselves in the foot.

Agreed.

An ideal week 11 for the Vols would include:

Vols beat Miss St (obviously)
UGa beats Ole Miss, puts the stake in Kiffin's playoff heart
Bama eliminates LSU once and for all

And then two very unlikely assists:

FL finds a way to give Texas another loss; and
Oklahoma finishes off Mizzou

I say those are both super unlikely, but I don't actually believe it's a stretch for Oklahoma to expose Mizzou as the poser they have been this season (again).

~ ~ ~

All that happens, and week 12 would see the Vols and Dawgs facing off as the only remaining SEC teams with a single loss on the season.

A&M would be the only other team with a single loss in conference play, but I'm thinking Texas eliminates them in week 14.

Go Vols!

Have you really watched Vandy this year. The QB throws up prayers often when under pressure. He is a B or C version of Cam Ward.

Defense has to play better than it did last night. But on offense, I think Nico has to run the ball more for us to beat UGA. I don't think our OL will be able to block well enough for him to just sit back in the pocket and make throws. Nico will have to stretch the defense with runs and on the run throws for us to have a chance.

No team has scored 20 on the Vols this season and I doubt Bobo and Beck will either. Of course our offense is sloppy and now our kicker has the shanks so I don’t know if we can capitalize. Maybe if the game was in Neyland. Crazy thing is they should both be top ten teams when the meet and I doubt the O/U is over 35.

Get outta here. Lets stay silent and not give UGA any more motivation than they already have when they play us. Kirby hates UT cause we owned them when he was a player.

Gatas pretty much ran right at the dawgs all night and were effective with it. We have one of the premier rushing attacks in the country. Time will tell.
Florida had 115 yards rushing, which is less than they had against us.

I think Kirby hates everyone. He lives his life in a constant mental bunker where it is him and his team against the world and everyone doubts and disrespects them. Regardless of whether it is true or not, it has seemed to work for him. I agree it is best not to help him.

Vols will be legendary if they beat Georgia in Athens. It is a big ask. Vandy may be worn down and gimped up by the final game in Nashville. Georgia seems to rise up for their biggest challenges like Texas and if Nico thinks he has seen trick defenses wait until Kirby draws his stuff up. However, the Vol defense may also have some physical play that Carson Beck has not seen before via Pearce and Josephs. Nico is improving consistently and the receivers must make plays. I see why Squirrel remains in the lineup even with his injury.

I see four general outcomes as distinct possibilities:

a. Beck cleans up the interceptions and throws enough dots to consistently score on us. Mutts run us out of Athens.
b. Nico plays like he did today, while the receivers not named Bru or Donte elevate their level of play to match him. We embarrass Georgia between the hedges.
c. Neither a nor b happens. The game is an ugly defensive battle. Televisions all across the states of Tennessee and Georgia get roundly cussed out for the duration.
d. Both a and b happen. The game is a medium-score thriller not unlike the Oregon-Ohio State game earlier this year.

C is the most likely outcome

My issue is where our ceiling sits relative to other good team's floor. People say GA "struggled" yesterday and they did, or at least Beck did. But even with 3 picks they still ended up with 457 yards while giving up 259. Since their "Oh yeah, SEC can be rough" league opener with KY GA hasn't scored less than 30 against anyone and that was against TX. Last night's 28 was the most we've put up against any SEC team and that was a KY team missing 4 DB's, 4 LB's an 2 DL.

As good as our defense is, which is pretty damned good, it's more than likely asking too much of it to keep saving the day against the caliber of teams in question if we're talking playoffs. Against those kind of teams what's seemingly become our norm in 1st half point production is very, very likely to be insufficient. That's not to say we can't do better. I see no reason to make that assumption. But it looks to be more of an imperative than merely a concern IMO.

Georgia's offense has weapons that will test the UT defense. Kentucky's success with the running game against the DL is a concern.

Run game changed when Vandergriff went out. They had the one long run when he was in. Somebody missed their gap. When the running QB came in they didn’t adapt real well at first.

Going to be a attitude game. Vols have been less than stellar on the road. Nico will have to use his wheels in this one..

UGA is struggling too. In fact, most of the top tier of the SEC schools are struggling. There doesn't appear to be that one team this year - probably because the scheduling is ensuring that UGA and others play tough opponents across the conference.

I feel at least 3 SEC teams will make the playoffs - I think that will tell if this is just the SEC teams beating up on each other - or if the conference is down. I think it is the former not the latter.
